Double Bass Songs that epitomize a particular bass tone?

I am trying to educate myself about tone. I have realized that I don't really know that much about it. I have read a lot of adjectives such as
fat
warm
clean
thick
bright
rich
punchy
crunchy
round
tubey
growl (actually a verb)

I thought it would be helpful if some of you with tone opinions listed some songs that have a bass tone that you feel is a good example of a particular tyoe of tone "genre." Then I could have something to listen to to go along with the descriptions I have been reading. Also any info on how the tone was achieved would be cool, but not critical.
Or if there is another post like this (I didn't find one) point me along.
Thanks!

How 'bout "bone crunching solid state distortion"?

OK maybe:

- crunchy
- farty
- distortion (the good kind)

Check out Side 1 of E Pluribus Funk by Grand Funk Railroad. Love this sound. Ah those were the days.
