Full disclosure: I cleaned offices and waiting rooms at my parents' practice and heard a LOT of soft rock at that job. Later on I lifeguarded the amazing Toni Tennille at work (...if only she was there to swim; which she wasn't

There are plenty of songs I don't like, ones that I think are too corny, mawkish, overly sentimental, or just annoying, but others may like them, so that's fine. I'm also sure that many others wouldn't like every song, or piece of music I like, also fine.
Why should anyone feel guilty about liking a song? Is it because they're worried that others might judge them harshly for liking it? Or because they think it a song isn't complex, or sophisticated enough, especially for a musician to like?
Every race of peoples on this planet developed their own form of music, mostly independent of each other, the desire/need to create music seems to be innate in humans and has been a source of joy, bonding and story telling throughout history. Enjoy it, of all the things to feel "guilty" about, liking music shouldn't ever be one of them.

I've got a thing for overly dramatic stuff like Meatloaf, Sarah Brightman and Nightwish... If I like it I like it, I'm not going to feel any shame. I do recognize stuff like Taco and Manowar as not being "cool" or whatever the kids are saying, but there's just some music that is like perfect storm greatness...

McArthurs Park, I've always LOVED it, and it did receive a lot of play. Also seems to be well hated.
