Songs With Great Funky Bass Playing!!!!

Greetings everyone! I assume this might be a common thread title but I just wanted to list a few of the millions of songs where the bass playing is absolutely incedible, that I am working on and hopefully these can motivat others too.
1. "Scorpio" by DENNIS COFFEY AND THE DETROIT GURU (great bass solo in and extended part HAVE MERCY!!)
2. "Help is on the way" by The WHATNAUTS This is a very sampled bass line that is EXACTLY the same as Fat Larry's Band's song "Act Like you Know"
3."Open Up" by CHIC. A typical sounding Chic song, but that Bernard is incredible.
4. "Mt. Airy Groove" PIECES OF A DREAM. Very funky roller skating anthem back in the day
5."Promises, Promises" by NAKED EYES. Sorry, I know the 80's were bad but this is still a pretty funky pop bassline.
6. "Thigs High" Tom Brown,
7. "Life on Mars" Dexter Wansel(awesome rolling thunder)
8. "Little Ghetto Boy" Donny Hathaway(Weeks at his best).
9. "Gotta Play" By Brian Jackson of Gil Scott Heron Fame.
10. "Bumpin" by Wes Montgomery (Simple but oh so smooth)

These are just a few of the one's that I think represent some hidden gems, and even though I didn't list some like Slave w Mark Adams, Pleasure etc, those are all great. Since so many great funk, soul jazz type of songs are sometimes one hit wonders, maybe you nice folks can help me out by listing some of your favorites as well.

It's really unbelievable that this was a Top-20(maybe Top-40) hit back in the day...dammit, I recall seeing Dennis Coffey & the Detroit Guitar Band doing "Scorpio" &, IIRC, "Taurus" back on American Bandstand.
Gotta admit, it would be cool if someone put out a DECENT "Best Of" American Bandstand DVD set.

You actually saw them on Bandstand. Now that is old school. You would think with all the retro tv on dvd now that someone would do that Jim.

Jazz-Funk?
The 1st 2-3 Jeff Lorber Fusion albums(Wizard Island, Water Sign and Galaxian)...sorry, I will have to get home to check on actual tune names. Danny Wilson was a bad ass, though.
...and Pops Popwell with the Crusaders(Images, Free As The Wind, Those Souther Knights).
Marcus Miller on The Brecker Brothers' Straphanging...Will Lee/Neil Jason on the earlier Brecker Brothers' stuff.

Also, I recall burning some old Raydio onto a disc...some of those 'deep' album cuts were happenin'.
I always liked LTD's "Jam" & was it "Rollerskates" by Cameo?

...it's getting to be a blur.
;)

Speaking of Raydio, "Hot Stuff" did it for me. "Let Your Mind Be Free" by Brother to Brother had a funky bassline too.

I know what you mean. Too bad not many radio stations carry the real old school funk eclusively. I'ts mainly the motown and RB stuff the is played. I wonder why that is?????

The bums making those kind of decisions think they know what's best for us?

"We Don't Wanna Sit Down, We Wanna Git Down"-Brick
"Come Inside"-The Commodores
"Do Your Dance"-Rose Royce
