songs you HATE

Wow....where to begin......
Anything by the Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, or anyone else disney promotes
Black-Eyed Peas- just about all of their stuff you hear on the radio
Green Day-Boulevard of broken dreams, american idiot, etc.
Blink 182-ANYTHING by them

and just for good measure, can't have a thread like this without him: Pete Wentz:hiding:

Hey now, to put these bands in the same paragraph as JoBros and Miley is a big injustice, don't ya think?

Oh, sorry...didn't want to do the Jonas Brothers and Miley wrong.

But seriously, at least the aformentioned artists started as the talentless twits they are today. Green Day actually had some talent before they sold out to the Man. It's depressing, really. What a slab of rotten meat their last two albums have been.

I love Journey, just like I love G'N'R, Def Leppard, POison, Ratt etc. Cheesy to the max, but I like cheesy rock.

From your list (and IMO, of course), Guns N' Roses is a band in a completely different ballpark. I can't say they made "cheesy" stuff. But anyway, although Def Leppard, Poison and Ratt (add Bon Jovi to the list) are famous mostly because their cheesy stuff, at least I can say that at some point they released something strong enough for me to enjoy. Can't say that about Journey. I mean, you can hear great guitar solos from Neal Schon, Steve Perry is a terrific vocalist, Steve Smith has been considered one of the greatest drummers of all time... but the songs as a whole are extremely bland for my taste.

Well, who knows... Maybe there are some surprises within their catalog (after they decided to abandon their jazz fusion roots) and I haven't been aware of them.

Nope. They are the Jonas brothers for post-pubescent nitwits instead of pre pubescent ones.

Personally I like Blink, but if you ever heard their stuff from before they got commercial, it's not all that bad IMO. Dude Ranch was their last not real commercial album, and I think it's great. Green Day...Dookie's pretty much it, aside from a few other songs, not a huge fan, though.

"to be with you" mr big.[/Q

i 'flatly' refused to learn this pile of 'corpse pus' in my mates band once.told them that i'd rather kneel in dog poo for a year than gig with this song.suffice to say we never learnt the song and the band never quite looked at me in the same light again.
also...
anything led zep with page and plant in it.
anything by metallica and trhcp.
and all the pretentious radio crap on most stations.(:rollno:ie robbie williams)

WEll I can see dude ranch being better than their current stuff, but I remember it when it was brandy new, and I was the outspoken hater then too. At the time I was big into punk, and Green day's first 3 were as radio pop punk as I was gonna get. IF I had heard Dude ranch before KErplunk, I might have chosen that. I like real punk, and that wasn't cutting it for me. To each his own though. Growing up is still a fun song to play.

First that comes to mind: Most of Journey's famous stuff. Great musicians making lame music.

+1

The worst one (that I know of - I don't torture myself by delving into their albums for more egregious examples,) is "Who's Crying Now". (I did, every time it played on the radio.:bawl:)

However, I got a big kick when "Don't Stop Believing" was used in the Aileen Wournos bio "Monster". That song is the apotheosis of trailer park philosophy. I always think of heavyset girls in white leather boots when I hear that tune.:D

BTW, my opinion of their music does not spring from the fact that I met several members of the band in its formative stage and that they were a bunch of arrogant snots.

Well, I find it less annoying than "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)" -their absolute worst hit song IMO- or "Don't Stop Believing", for instance. Maybe because I like Ross Valory's fretless tone on "Who's Cryin' Now".

Now that I mention RV's fretless work and since I'm not a Journey connoisseur (because of my annoyance towards their music), which song is the one they play in this video from 2:07 to 3:00? Of course I can't comment on the song since I haven't heard it before (and it's not complete in the video), but at least I enjoy the fretless bass part. Again, I think that many cool parts can be found on Journey's music. It's the overall quality of their popular songs what I don't like.
