sound guy ignoring direct out on amp

That's good to know. He seemed kind of annoying in that vid I talked about earlier

The first time I met him he was walking around inside a local venue. I wanted my two buddies to be able to meet him. The dude waited right where he was for a good 5 minutes while I went and tracked down my two buddies. Then he started asking around for a pen so he could sign our ticket stubs. This was when they were touring on their first album and nobody knew who they were yet. The guy signed our stubs and gave us t-shirts and bumper stickers as well as upgraded seating.

The second time I met him he actually remembered who I was ( there was at least 5 years in between these meetings) and let me and my wife have back stage passes. Very cool. In fact, the whole band are very cool people.

Quick question, what if the sound guy wants you to use his DI, and its just a metal box with a 1/4 plug on one side, and a 3 prong plug on the other. How am I supposed to hook up my amp? Split the 1/4 cord from my bass?

Ya, a Y cable, then go in and out. But that's really lame. What does he expect? Nobody uses amps?

Di boxes have two 1/4" "jacks", a "thru" to go to your bass amp. no Y cable needed.

If he wants to use his super simple box, he should arrange the split too. Or mike the cab
My general rule, the sound guy can make anything he wants until he don't get into the way. I'm pretty good at kicking boxes off the stage.
