source audio c4

Like yourself, I use about 20 patches on my C4 with a DMC Micro Pro. In order to accommodate various set lists and songs, I have some effects on duplicate patches depending on what song and set. Sometimes the same patch toggled to off or on so one click swaps between two active patches if one song needs two effects. Whatever I can do to make a song only one or two presses of a foot switch instead of a dozen.

Thanks.
I'm only starting to develop how the MC6 Pro can handle song lists (band on hold atm). I can see great potential here, to toggle in/out, depending on the song structure. Super cool.

Is the C4 your only pedal you are controlling with midi?

Yes, the C4 is my only pedal utilizing midi. I do own a Source Audio Atlas, but haven't justified the need to have that pedal change presets. I just use 6 presets, and typically use one maybe two patches per show with the Atlas

Yeah compression is a subtle beast. For myself, I find it hard to mentally'classify' how different settings affect the sound/tone.
I have the SA Ultrawave which has a fantastic dual compressor. It's a bit of a mystery at times how the compression, eq, and band distortions actually combine on the sound. I understand the principles but still get (nice) surprises when a slight tweak on the UW parameters , yields a cool extra 'dimension' on certain C4 presets.

Just don't think our guitarist appreciates my time & efforts...... 'It's just bass' to him ha ha :roflmao:

Just wanted to share this to show that full midi control and compact board size aren’t mutually exclusive concepts. I can scale it up and add peripherals like switches and expression pedals at-will using the relay ports on the MC6 pro.

That’s very tidy. The MC6 Pro is a really good size vs functionality balance. You could have driven one of those SA pedals from the MC’s host port.

I've always thought chaining together the SA MIDI dongles would be a clean way to cable up a board with multiple SA pedals. Glad to see it in the real world. For my personal MIDI use cases, I've always found the SA Hub to be awkward and bulky. It takes up valuable space on the top, and is a challenge to fit underneath due to how tall it is. I managed to get it under my board and it's working, but your setup definitely scratches my OCD itches :)

When using the neuro editor on iPhone connected to the Input 2 with the TRS cable and a connector to Lightning, I have come across an issue. It would be convenient to be connected this way so the USB-port can stay connected to the Morningstar MC6 pro which I simultaneously can edit on my iPad.

When burning presets onto the C4 on iPhone the burning itself works, but I’m not able to rename the preset so keeping track of where I have each preset is harder than it should be. They are still named EMD Swell, User preset 8 etc. Is this just not a feature when connected this way, a bug or something that can be fixed in the future? I’ve attached the pop up that isn’t appearing on the iPhone.

I'm about to start working with my C4 for a project and I'm wondering if anyone has been able to reasonably recreate an Electro Harmonix Bass Micro Synth type of patch?

I looked at the Neuro Community by Source Audio page. There are 3102 search results for the C4 there though so I'm thinking I should just dive in and try to make my own if possible. It might be easier than sifting through all of that!

I'm just wondering if anyone has tried this before and what were the results?

Thanks!

Here you go. I could have sworn I did a few more but the search engine isn’t them up.

Hi all,
I haven't seen this exact thing covered anywhere, but apologies if I just missed it.

I've got a C4 connected to a DMC micro with a dual expression plugged into the 1/8" control jack on the C4.

Would I be able to plug a tap tempo into the multi jack on the DMC and be able to control the C4 with it? I haven't seen anyone use both before so I wanted to check it was possible before I purchase anything.

I asked the same question a few pages back, except the other way around. I haven't tried it yet, but it supposedly possible. Also you can make your own Source audio style tap tempo. The schematic is out there. I found it in the lunar phaser manual.

Others can correct me, but I think that depends on whether the DMC creates midi clock?

Hey folks - switching to a small board and running into some power issues. I have a Sweet Foot Iso Base Big Swartz power supply, which states that each output is at 9v @400mA (+/- 10%) but when I turn on the board it causes the C4 (and my Ultrawave) to blink fast and not function normally unless they are unplugged and re-plugged in with the power supply already on.

Unfortunately with my board setup I cannot fit any other power supply under the board itself, but was wondering what the proper voltage needed would be at startup? It works fine on my power supply output that sends 9v@3A as well as my Fender power supply at 9v@500mA.

I’d say the power supply just isn’t up to the task, especially if both pedals are on the same tap. I’d think a Cioks 4 would fit just fine.

Spoke with the power supply manufacturer and they think that the power supply has it's own issue - will be sent back and fixed and hopefully work when I get it back. Hopefully it isn't the issue like with the Strymon power supplies and the slow voltage ramp causing the C4 to go into "protect" mode

Asking a favor,....trying to duplicate the bass tone for Bad Guy, Billie Eilish. Messed about trying to dial something in today, but my results were less than stellar. :rollno: Anyone have a patch thats as smooth as the original? Or some guidance on how to achieve it? My attempts were too quacky or distorted to be convincing. Mark Neary had a killer version of it, but the file is corrupted. Help anyone?

Sometimes when I'm playing around with presets I get a pip pip sound. If I mash the strings it goes away, but I guess I play with a light touch and don't really want to dig in that hard. How can I control this?
Adjust the input gain on the preset and resave.
