On my C4, it seems more glitchy than what I see in videos and demos, like it picks up random harmonics and notes sometimes no matter how clean I play. I previously had an EH mono synth, so I get it about cleaning up your technique, but this doesn’t seem all that much better. I’m assuming this might be an input/sensitivity adjustment, it’s bad enough that it’s noticeable with the blend all the way up, so I never play with it above about 10oclock... I’ve read the manual but can anyone give me a crash course on setup?

This is definitely not right. We made a huge effort in this regard. I am rusty on the set-up. Perhaps someone else can comment. Have you used the input calibration?

Also, the polyphonic pitch shifting is not a good place to start.

This isn’t my experience at all. What bass are you using? Active or passive? What pickup settings? Strings? Any pre-EQ? Any other pedals on before the C4? I find my C4 noticeably less glitchy than most monophonic synth/octave pedals I’ve tried, but dialing in the input/trigger sensitivity are key

Yeah, it’s nowhere near as clean as the demos I’ve seen. I’ve used both my precision and jazz, both passive, both with roundwound strings. Tried it on my pedalboard and by itself, also with shared power and it’s own power supply. I’ve factory reset multiple times, when browsing the community presets I’ll come across stuff that the controls have no function. I tried to edit from within the app and the edit page doesn’t seem to affect the pedal. I’ve tried to adjust the input and sensitivity setting but honestly, I can’t really tell if they even do anything. Also, when plugged into my computer via usb, it says there’s no firmware updates available either.
I mean, it’s not like the pedal is unusable, but I’m starting to think somethings wrong with it.

It should be pretty obvious when adjusting those input/sens settings IME, so maybe something is wrong? I wonder if there might be some global setting that is toggled weirdly? I haven't dug into that stuff too much as I haven't needed to...

Do you play with pick or fingers? Do you generally have a pretty bright tone from the bass? Most pedals track the fundamental frequency of a note, so anything you can do to minimize upper harmonics will improve tracking (playing on the neck pickup, plucking/picking closer to the neck, lowering the tone control, muting techniques). Maybe just from years of playing with a Boss OC-2, but I've gotten used to playing lines in the upper register (above the 5th fret) when using synth pedals as there is more fundamental frequency in that register that tends to give more consistent tracking. I've mostly used my C4 with my Rickenbackers which have a pretty strong/deep neck pickup tone and seem to track pretty well, but with roundwounds I definitely need to play a little more carefully and favor more neck pickup. I've also used a P-bass with it to good effect, but it has flatwounds.

One thing with the community presets is that you have to adjust the sensitivity for each one to fit your bass (they are saved with whatever sensitivity settings the creator used). I kinda wish there were a global sensitivity setting so I could browse the community presets without constantly having to tweak just to trigger things right (but of course part of the beauty is being able to fine-tune/customize how each envelope opens, etc, so I understand why its not a global setting).

SOOOO, mine finally arrives next week. I perform in a Gorillaz tribute band. One of the tunes we do is All alone. are there any patches out there that will give me a similar bass sound and allow me to glide between the octaves like in the bass line of the song (even if that involves using an expression pedal). I know, silly question.

@Gibs210 Any thoughts on this? We went to great pains during the design process to make sure this soft of thing did not happen!!!

Only thing I can think of is adjusting the input sensitivity, and to make sure it’s not getting such a hot signal as to cause tracking issues. Also to keep it as close to the bass as possible in the effect chain. If that doesn’t do it, then I suggest we try making a video showing what it is doing and sending it to [email protected]

On some patches, the sensitivity adjustment helps some. It just seems overly sensitive ( I think), like when I choke off a note it tends to try and play something else at the end of the note. Almost like it finds a harmonic from somewhere and plays this little derp at the end of phrases, sometimes in between note changes. Also, when auditioning patches from the neuro app it tends to freeze the pedal and I have to power cycle it to get anywhere.
the was with a passive jazz bass plugged directly into the C4 with nothing else in the chain. Id love to see a video on a factory patch, with all knob settings, to see/hear exactly what it’s supposed to sound like to at least use as a baseline to see if mine functions the same.

Hey guys

I’ve got a C4 and it’s so much fun. My problem at the mo is that I don’t have a background in synthesis so often don’t know where to start when trying to recreate a sound.

Can anyone point me in the right direction for the Bass synth in Robbie Williams ‘Rock DJ’. I don’t know if there’s something in the library I could tweak, or perhaps I can start from scratch with the right advise.

Loving the pedal and all of your amazing sounds. I can’t wait to understand this all better and contribute some of my own sounds.

I bet it was! It's a huge little pedal of delights...so much functionality in such a small form factor. Did you get it all shoveled into one demo? Between the amazing filter options, the really good analogue sounding octave...the analogue sounding synths, the built in dirt, the FM synths and the step sequencer...there's a lot to cover! From a "cyber punk genre sound scape" point of view...it's a candy land pedal.
