source audio c4

Based on the calibration instructions, you probably want it to be red every once in a while:

The Calibration process is as follows:
1.Turn the INPUT knob all the way down.
2.Continuously pluck your instrument at your average plucking velocity.
3.Slowly turn up the INPUT knob up until the center LED starts flashing red. This flashing indicates that you have reached the optimum INPUT level. Leave the knob where it is – the process is complete.

Edit: D'oh. The One Who Knows beat me to it.

Has anyone used the EHX CNTL Knob static expression pedal with he C4? It seems like the cheapest way to get 2 more assignable knobs for the C4 and I assume it can be set up in exactly the same way as the Source Audio site describes connecting 3rd party expression pedals via RCA cables. I’ve thought about that for use with the MC8 extra expression ports but there are CC commands to reassign the C4 knobs on the fly so technically not needed (though there is currently a bug in the C4 implementation).

That sounds good. At £35 I might go for the EHX as a first step and possibly build up to a setup like that if I use the C4 enough.

Another couple of questions:
  • Is it possible to assign the equivalent of a 'tone' knob rather than either Bass or Treble (e.g. full CCW = 100% Bass, 0% Treble, Fully CW = 0% Bass, 100% Treble).
  • Is there any way to assign the top 2 knobs to other parameters e.g. set the Input and Mix knob as a static amounts and assign the controls for other parameters?
I'm liking the C4 but still have quite a hardware control mindset - looking for ways to squeeze out the most from the hardware controls it has, or cheaply adding external controls.

Yes, if using something like the MC8 as you can have an expression controller send out multiple parameters.

You can also easily do this on the C4 via the expression pedal/external control as there are three slots. (You can’t do it on the hardware knobs though.)

No, the top two knobs cannot be reassigned.

Nice one, I think I'll go for the EHX (or possibly an expression pedal) for now and will possibly get more midi control in future.

Hi!
Can anyone tell me if the C4 will work with an EHX 8 Step Program? In theory it should, as the 8SP should work as any other exp pedal, but I could only find a brief reference in TheGearPage thread of someone who couldn't make this match work.
The fact is that till now I haven't been able to make my Mooer exp pedal work with the C4. I did the settings in the Neuro app, but probably I'm not using the right cable.
Any information will be welcome!

Is there any way to get tap tempo using the DMC.micro? I've got it set up to scroll through patches and tried to set up tap tempo in the UTILITY menu, but not sure if there is a c4 for the C4?

I'm trying to control the speed of this patch, for example. I've got the external control set to MIDI and LFO speed, is that right?

If the DMC can send MIDI clock signals then you need to turn on the MIDI clock button in the LFO section of the C4 editor.

Cc93 is for tap tempo.

The control input does not work with standard expression signals, you’ll need to flip the tip and ring connections to work properly.

Is it not possible to send out simultaneous CCs on different channels from the same button? Sounds like a job for MC6!

I've no idea lol midi is far too confusing for my pea brain... I don't plan to upgrade my micro to an MC6 though

Do I need to set this cc to be able to use an expression pedal with the C4?

Your DMC needs to output CC100 when moving an expression pedal plugged into it, so set whatever makes that happen on the DMC.

You will need to assign something to external control in your C4 patch(es) in order to have any effect.
