THAT was a bizarre sound. It almost wasn't human! :)

That's the awesomeness of LFO waveforms. It provides parameter automation that you cannot possibly reproduce with a human hand or foot turning knobs or rocking an expression pedal. Well, the human foot can do sine and some triangle type waveforms via expression, but it takes a talented food to be able to do that synced to a beat over multiple measures repeatedly.

Good call on using the sine shapes to get that accented tempo that sounds human while being automated. I've been working out some clips for the demo video over the past month. The possibilities are so endless, we may have to do a feature length!

....and you guys have to write an owners manual! Good luck with getting that into layman's terms.

I sometimes have to write out tech manual-like directions for users. I enjoy slipping in made up terminology just to see if they actually read what I wrote.

In other news, 8th Street notified me that my BEF is in the mail. w00t.

How about this instead?

"Press the Modulation button until LFO has been selected. Simply tap quarter notes with footswitch #3 to sync to your tempo. You will notice LFO is now audibly synced, and footswitch #3 LED is visibly synced, to your tempo."

Then you can dive into the Backpage features to further tweak, if so desired. Such as selecting a different LFO waveform, or apply expression control to various parameters such as LFO speed, etc.

It's not as difficult as it sounds. Though I understand (from my own personal experience) how daunting it sounds.

If you use a phaser, flanger, chorus, tremolo, slicer, vibrato, delay, or any other type of effect that has cyclical, beat synced, or timed effects you're already using a LFO to modulate those effects but just don't know it. :)
 
Yeah getting the actual functions of the pedal written out as clearly as possible is a nice and straight ahead task. When it comes to the supplementary stuff and the demo video, we always try to highlight how to make the functions of the pedal work for you. The thing about the BEF Pro is that we could make a whole video on how to be clever with Sequencer LFO functions alone. It's just so freakin' packed with possibilities it's incredible.

Not a bad deal though, because it just means more playing for me!
 
The next question is,...are there modular midi clocks (in stompbox form) out there,...or would it be possible to DIY one.

I'm not sure I see the value in that since it has tap tempo built-in. Unless you have a variety of MIDI aware gear that can calculate a clock.

MIDI Clock is great, don't get me wrong. But it can be complicated. A lot of MIDI aware gear doesn't include a MIDI THRU jack, such as most current BOSS gear and the BEF Pro. So now you need some sort of MIDI hub to ensure all your gear can get the MIDI data. And a lot of gear cannot successfully calculate a MIDI Clock and not drift off the clock. It sounds great on paper, not always so good in implementation. :)

Note the BEF Pro seems to have an excellent MIDI Clock sync and holds to it well. Very promising.

There are MIDI Clock generator pedals. But they're not cheap. And there's other gear that can generate clock, like the new Roland GR-55 which can generate and transmit MIDI Clock based on it's internal tap tempo. But you're best least expensive way to get a clock source is a master sequencer or a simple drum machine. The sequencer could be your DAW running on a computer. a piece of hardware, etc. and it can manage and transmit a lot more than just a clock. Now you can automate patch changes, automated MIDI CC to modulate parameters, and more. Again, fairly advanced and complicated and once you go that far down the rabbit hole it's not necessarily very organic.
