Thank you very much.....it does sound easier than I was thinking it was....not all that tech savvy so I've been staying away from modelers.....

I find the tone on the OFD more modern than vintage.....maybe I haven't figured the OFD out yet but can I get a warm vintagey drive out of it? I've got a setting that's close to the VMT but the VMT is much smoother still....

Yes, except you don't need to SAVE the preset between each step.

In general you're over thinking it way too much. Just select T, set the treble where you want it. Select M, turn the knob until that's where you want the mids. Select B, turn the knob to where the bass is where you want it.

Save your preset when you're done making ALL of your changes to ALL of the parameters on the pedal.

That's it.

If you decided you want more treble. Go back, select T, and completely forget where the tone knob happens to be currently pointing. It's technically irrelevant. Just turn the tone knob to where you want it to be, it'll start changing with you turning the knob.

Warm vintagey drive? Use the tube drive setting at minimum gain, blend at 11 o'clock, with small adjustments to eq depending on your bass and rig. Try tube crunch also, but tube drive gets cleaner.

I really don't think that it'll disappoint you. I have more than 200 overdrive/distortion pedals and the OFD stands with the best of them.

Hi johnk, which do you prefer out of the ofd and the aftershock? I'm looking at either for low od and grindy distortion (dont really use fuzz). I prefer turning dials to fiddling with an app so leaning towards the ofd, but do you have any thoughts?

they're both great.
the advantage of the OFD is that you can experiment & create a ton of sounds right on the pedal without using software or an app. the aftershock's advantage is that you can get more tones than most any other overdrive/fuzz pedal if you don't mind using an app to do it.

As i thought. Cant see myself using any app. Will try the ofd
