I most def caught SA fever. It started with just wanting to try the orbital for modulation. I had heard about the manta but I haven't been a big filter guy for a long time. After hearing it's capabilities and playing around with the orbital and how good it was, I got a manta. I really wasn't sold on the OFD. It sounded like a great idea when I first heard about it but wasn't sold. Then I kept getting told that the dirts in it were very natural sounding and could possibly replace and or replicate most if what I had on my board. Well, I've only had it for about 12 hours and I have to say, I'm now a believer in the OFD as well. The models it does does them extremely well IMO. I won't know for sure until I test it live but from what I'm hearing coming out of my amp as of last night, like I said, I'm a believer. The added bonus of EQ and clean blend makes it all the better. Very solid pedal. Very solid.

Resistance is futile!!!
In the long run buying the OFD could save you money. Having all those different dirt flavors could scratch many itches. At least this is what I told myself while dishing out almost $800 last month.

I don't regret it at all though. One practice of hitting one button to change settings on 4 different pedals is awesome. Having 128 presets? What can I say? I'm a fan.

yeah, we'll see...

My only thing is I stack dirt a lot. Muff into drive, distortion into drive, drive into drive, parallel blend distortion with muff... etc...

I don't think I could have 1 dirt effect only, but then, I'm still willing to give it a try. I may be able to dial in the combo sounds with just one OFD. I'm very particular though.

Still, modulation first. There is a big hole in my effects chain that only a phaser can fill, and the new Compact Faye Sing isn't out yet (choice #1). I have a VFE Enterprise (my second favorite phaser), but it does not have expression out, which I find essential for phasing. So I'm twitteling my thumbs until my tax return shows up in anticipation of an Orbital purchase.

Anyhoo, don't mind me, just rambling...

The OFD is now certainly on my gotta try it list!

I blame all of you, really.

I used to stack my OCD with my ODB3a the time. I set my OFD to the TS9000 and it still stacks JUST like the OCD did with the ODB3. The crunch tube as well. Still sounds awesome. So in other words, the OFD stacks well with other dirts IMO. It's not the only dirt pedal on my board. But it will end helping me be extremely versatile when it comes dirt on my board.

Hmmm.... that's a good point. If say I use the B3K to stack with two other dirt pedals, but one at a time and I never turn those other two on at the same time, then the OFD would be a smart purchase. Two for the price (and space) of one.

I basically parallel blend a muff with a high(mid)-frequency distortion, and push that into a B3K (sounds stupid awesome). If I had need for a 4th dirt drive, then I can see the OFD as a good choice... However, it could replace the B3K as my stacking drive, but I'd be hard pressed to loose that from my board. Although, a stacking drive that can sound however I want it is kinda appealing...

IMO, don't replace your B3K for it. I am assuming that when the B3K is activated it adds a lot of life to some dirts? That would be one of your key ingredient in guessing. I have the B7K so I already get that flavor cleanish (I'm starting to experiment with the drive section of it little by little) and it helps work stacking dirts. But I only will stack a couple at a time. That may change here when I get the XD1 back. But regardless, I run everything through the 7 and I have stacked a few dirts at once but they'll start getting so compressed it doesn't work anymore. I was experimenting with the noise gate on the OFD last night. Win win pedal. It is such an invaluable tool.

Ah yes, of course I forgot the blend. Thanks gastric!

Thanks gregmon and Saluki for the advice too. Yeah, the B3K is my favy because of it's metallic grind, and how amazingly well it stacks after other dirt pedals; like adding an additional filth flavor on top of everything before it. Plus of course, it's own tones.

I'll hold off on the OFD for now (priorities like the OM and DR which I just splurged on), but color me curious for sure!
