That is how I have mine set. I can't guarantee that it will match all VMT settings, but it nailed the lower drive sound I was trying to find. Nearly identical.
I was thinking of getting an OFD as a jack of all trades, traditional sounding distortion, but I'm having trouble figuring out all it can do. Can it do a more modern, bright overdrive?
Cool man. I think I'm actually gonna let go of my b3k for an OFD. I can only say good things about that pedal, but it's somehow not exactly what I want. Looks like I'll be ordering an OFD, Manta, and MWBD. With all these sales going on, for once I'm happy to be single on a Valentine's Day.
So after spending time with the OFD, I've definately found a couple sounds I can really get down with. I had a rather hard time getting the weirder sounds that the Swollen Pickle was capable of, though I was mainly interested in getting those just for fun, not that I've ever spend a whole lot of time on the WHSP's nutty settings. I mainly used it as a better big muff, which the OFD does wonderfully (that low frequency blend is really useful). I had a tone matching my old GV-2 dialed in probably under a minute and a half.

Handofseven and I got together in the Pedal Palace again this weekend gave the OFD some a/b comparisons to some of our fave dirt pedals.
I was shocked by how close the OFD gets to both of our fave setting (no diodes) on the Rat Tail. Roomates close.
Gotta say I consider the Rat Tail the ultimate version of a RAT for bass but the OFD is equal to it, with only a tad different flavor. Apples and oranges of best bass RATs for me.
You can cop a pseudo close Diabolik sound from the OFD but imo the Diabolik has a bit more natural grunt and wildness to it's personality. Same block close.
Couldn't get it close enough to ho7's turbo charged Depth Charge to be satisfying. Same city but don't know each other close.
No matter the setting on the OFD, running it with a Fuzzrocious Heliotropic is hella fun.
Best noise gate for bass I've ever heard in a pedal.

+1 No offense to Juan but that really was terrible. The gain was too high so they all sounded the same, the bass line was too repetitive, and he wasted too much time literally reading the manual.
To Juan's credit, the pedal has so many setting options that if he were to cycle through them all, the video would be 45 minutes long. I wish he would have played something live with the gated fuzz to show how great the gate is. At the very least, people know how beastly the OFD can be.

And yet, for all of its alleged versatility, somehow he managed to make it sound like just one setting, just messing with the EQ a little bit.
I'm sorry, I'm not usually this aggressively critical of demo videos. After all, even when they're not great, at least they're trying, they are out there producing them and I'm not. But I kind of want those 8 minutes of my life back.
I'm with Andrew. I've been a devoted fulltone OCD guy for a while now and I was simply amazed at how close it got to my fav settings on the OCD. The rat as well. I've since removed my OCD, ODB3 and rat king from my board. It was scary yet liberating at the same time.
On the noise gate, yes, it's really good. I've never worked with a noise gate but after I've been stacking some dirts, one at a time mind you, with the OFD, the gate really comes in handy. It also helps that you can set the degree of the gate from low, med to high. When I first got the OFD I really didn't think I'd use the gate at all. I've now got it set to low on both presets. Maybe med at times if I'm using the rat. Truly a resourceful and versatile pedal. Happy I decided to take the OFD plunge.

I havn't tried to compare my OFD and OCD yet but from the clips JohnK posted before I thought they sounded very close and I preferred the sound of the OFD emulating the OCD over the real thing.
If you take any of these classic pedals and run them with a really good noise gate, eq and clean blend I'm sure you'd get results you'd like better in some way from the pedals on their own, and the OFD gives you those options in one box.
The one thing I wish the OFD had differently is more clean volume on tap. I find running it with a clean boost gives me the most satisfying results.

Can't say that I disagree. Take the time to learn the name and highlight the unique features. He didn't get the name right once. I would have loved to see him run a Dual EXP into the OFD and show some of the control options.
I never really complained about a demo, but this one really does the product a disservice. I purchased it based on the recommendations of some people here whose opinions I really respect. I didn't really expect it to replace many pedals for me, but it's actually ended up replacing some of my favorites. If I had seen this demo first, though, I wouldn't have even bothered to read any posts about it. Definitely wouldn't have ordered it.
Dude, why didnt I think about that?! A clean blend after the OFD...... hmmmmm. Well, I sort of have that going on with my XD1 on my board too. Something to think about though. That was the one thing that worried me the most was if there would be enough clean volume on this OFD. I have to say it is the only thing I wish there was a little more of. But I can live with it.

Want to be sure I am getting this point correctly. If I dial in lots of clean in the mix, and I crank the output level, are you saying that this is still not enough "clean boost"?
