Is there any way in the Hub Manager to set the Manta to tap tempo? I poked around the Manager for a while and couldn't find it. I haven't done a full analysis of the manual.

While I'm at it I just made a list that has everything I have worth sharing.

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]
- Dubstep wobble using EXP pedal on manta

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]
- Filter sound for Michael Jackson "Chicago"

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]
- A different sounding 'dubstep' wobble using EXP on Manta

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]
- Basic fuzz sound. Use an octaver to thicken it up

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]
- Add an octaver before your SA chain for this to sound right. For Muse "Madness"

- A higher driven drive sound.

- Set OFD to a volume pedal controlled by EXP with hi-cut, and Manta to a slow phaser sound. Put a delay after the OFD and either before or after the Manta. Makes a setting for a nice volume swell, ambient patch. NEEDS DELAY/REVERB

- This is my 90% of the time Always on sound. Unless I need something perfectly clean or higher gain I am using this sound all the time.

Enjoy!

Thank you so much for this! I just got my hub in the mail today and was going to go about setting up some patches. This will be very helpful- many thanks!

One of your 2 pedal presets has to be set in tap tempo in order to use any hub presets. It's a weird quirk of the pedal.

Also if you're hoping to sync to a midi clock the manta won't do any subdivisions other than quarter notes. There was talk of updating this many pages back, but it still hasn't happened. I would like to be able to use my expression pedal to move from an in sync whole note sinewave to an in sync 16th note sinewave. You were able to do this with the BEFpro, I don't know why it was omitted from the manta.

Hmm...could you describe the first part you're saying in a little more detail? How would I go about setting up a scene with tap tempo? And if it's set up with tap tempo, will it use MIDI clock that is being set to the Hub?

For the second part, that's unfortunate, but I do remember that. I'm curious about getting some autowah dubs, and quarter notes will be okay I guess.

As I understand it you need to have tap tempo activated on the pedal for it to receive MIDI clock.

That's fine, I'm just asking, it will accept MIDI Clock under those conditions, right? I was having some trouble getting tap tempo rolling when I was trying it out last night. It really should be a Hub Manager option. Maybe there are complexities I can't appreciate, though.

P15 of the manta manual details how to set a preset into tap tempo. If you want your hub scene to also use tap tempo, then in the manager use the same side as in the pedal. I'm away from my board now so I can't double check to make sure I'm explaining this 100%, if anyone else cares to chime in?

I think I found that last night and then I was unable to do it. It might have been user error on my part, but my Hub and pedals were actually freaking out just a little bit too. Not sure what to think about that.

For a scene to have Tap tempo you must have first set one of the presets on the pedal with Tap tempo. Then as stated above, just use that side when setting a scene. Mine uses the left side as the Tap tempo preset while the right side is the tap tempo tap thingy whatever you call it.

^ In the Hub Manager, I know you can set things as preset 0, 1, or 2...so is 1 the left side, 2 the right side, and 0 some sort of buffer?

As mentioned above but just to clarify how this works:

As far as I've seen, it can't be set from the hub. You've to set it within the manta itself. A practical example:
For my manta, I've set the pedal's presets as footswitch 1 without tap tempo, footswitch 2 with tap tempo.
From the hub, if I have a scene with a manta patch into preset 1, it'll appear without tap tempo, if I set the same patch into preset 2, it'll appear with tap tempo. If I set the scene into preset 0, it won't have tap tempo.

^ In the Hub Manager, I know you can set things as preset 0, 1, or 2...so is 1 the left side, 2 the right side, and 0 some sort of buffer?
1 is the left and 2 is the right, yeah. As for 0... from what I've seen, it seems to turn neither indicator on, but it does turn the effect on, so the moment you press either footswitch it instantly changes to the corresponding within-pedal preset (as compared to setting the scene to 1, then if you click the left footswitch it just turns off the effect, while if you click the right footswitch it changes to within-pedal preset 2). IIRC what I have NOT tried is sending a scene with preset 0 while one of the within-pedal presets is already activated. I believe it should turn off both lights and set the scene's settings on, but I'm not sure.

Oh and one more thing I've been meaning to post for a while but never got down to posting:

I'm pretty sure now that the Multiwave Pro and the Hub use different expression pedal resistance ranges. My Boss FV50L has enough sweep to completely morph between patches on the multiwave pro, but not through the hub. Is there any way to reconfigure the hub to change the expected sweep range?

For example, the Hub says it accepts 10k-50k Ohm resistance. Would I be right to assume this means that the expression pedal must go from some minimum value of 0 Ohm to some maximum value between 10k-50k Ohms?

The multiwave pro manual or webpage doesn't say what's the required resistance. Earlier in this thread someone asked about the required resistances too and I mistakenly assumed the multiwave pro would be same as the hub.

I believe the boss goes from 0 to 8.5k Ohm. So that would explain why when I sweep across, it doesn't give me a full morphing range. It goes from one preset to a maximum of just past halfway to the other preset.

There's a calibration knob on the boss that increases the resistance, this is at the minimum setting. If I turn up the calibration knob, I can reach the other preset, but then the heel down position cannot reach my original preset.

So based on the above two points, I think what's happening is that depending on what my calibration knob is set as, I can go from 0 to 8.5k or something like 1.5k to 10k or even higher, but I can never go from 0 to 10k.

The next point is that I believe that changing the control assign minimum/maximum scales the values. For example, by default min is 0 and max is 255. So at 0 Ohms, it sends a MIDI CC of 0 and at 10 Ohms, it sends a MIDI CC of 255. If I change these values, for example, set min as 20 and max as 40, then at 0 Ohms it sends a MIDI CC of 20 and at 10 Ohms it sends a MIDI CC of 40. Unfortunately, I can only set values between 0 and 255.

Since I know the hub is registering this and currently sending a midi signal to my pedal that goes from 0 to something less than 255, is there a way to set my control assign to more than 255? That way when it scales up, I can calibrate it to send a MIDI CC of 255 when the expression pedal is at 8.5k instead. I'm guessing if this function doesn't already exist, this would be a simple edit to the software. Since it's impossible to send MIDI CC above 255 or below 0, maybe a floor or ceiling function can be implemented at the same time.

Other than allowing more expression pedals to be used with the hub, this also has the added advantage of allowing you to stagger your pedal control. For example, consider the following scenario:
- You have a scene with both the Manta and Multiwave Distortion
- Set the multiwave to blend from a clean patch to a synth patch with control assign min -255 max 255
- Set the manta blend from 100% dry to 100% wet with control assign min 127 max 382
- I believe the result of that (with an appropriate floor/ceiling function) would be that with the expression pedal in heel position, you get a purely dry sound, as you go up to halfway the manta blends in and applies a filter to your dry sound, and as you continue to go from halfway to completely toe position, the manta stays exactly the same but the multiwave synth kicks in gradually. I've a song where I'd actually really like this functionality.

........or I guess I could just save up for a reflex. =/

I'm more interested in that purple pedal... "kingmaker" was it? Wonder if it's based on the multiwave or the OFD or something else entirely? And given that the Gemini can do all the orbital modulator settings, I wonder if this has the full functionality of some other pedal as well.

And I didn't think the EQ could be used this way. It's massively cool.
