The Neuro App was submitted to Apple for approval today. It turned out to be a MASSIVELY complicated development.....and it required lots of work to create the companion web site as well. The good news is that it works really well. With all our new pedals moving forward you get the following:
1) Adjustable brickwall low pass filter
2) 5 band parametric EQ
3) Complex router
4) Very easy way to access and share a potentially huge world of sounds from us, you, artists, and others.
5) Simple tap tempo on all new pedals via the Neuro port and a small external box....or via the neuro app or via MIDI clock
I am sure there is more. Getting to this point was a huge step. I hope things will go faster now and we will get things out more quickly.
Nemesis has slipped for sure. But keep in mind it will benefit from everything we have done on the Neuro front.
We have also figured out how to plug the app into one pedal in the chain and see all of them. Of course the Hub can do this via USB, but doing this via phone on the run is also cool!
Thank you for being patient!
1) This has not been all defined yet, but I would say that what makes sense will be included. Some of it might be code-space dependent.Sounds awesome!
(1) Will all of those be on the Nemesis as well? (I feel like there were some exceptions discussed for the Nemesis.)
(2) Will there be any way to use the Neuro app via the Hub---USB OTG, etc.? I think the last time this was discussed you guys weren't sure that iPads had USB host mode (which they do).
(3) Any latest dates on Reflex/One Series/Nemesis/Neuro Loop Switchers?

2) For now the app talks to pedals through the headphone jack. It is very handy and simple, but it is no match for USB which is bi-directional and 100X the speed. There is file compatibility between the Neuro word and Hub world. As for the iPad and USB, we are not likely going to create any apps. At some point we must draw the line on how much of an app development company we want to be and stick the knitting. With that said, ALL ONE SERIES PEDALS LOOK LIKE A MIDI DEVICE OVER USB. If you run a MIDI app on your iPad (or Mac or whatever) and connect to a one series pedal...its all there. This is kind of huge.
3) My hope: Vertigo - days from now. Gemini/Lunar/Mercury - 4 weeks. One Series distortions - 6 weeks. Reflex - 4 weeks. We have 300 units sitting on the shelf ready to be programmed. It is killing me! Nemesis is looking like fall. I am not sure about the Neuro look switch. Let me get back to you on that one.
Thanks for the responses. Regarding (2), I totally understand not wanting to get bogged down in app development. Just to be clear, I guess I was under the impression that the Hub Manager and Neuro would in essence be merging at some point? It's entirely possible I misunderstood that. And with that possibly erroneous preconceived notion, with the way I have my pedalboard set up (both now and my plans in the future), I was thinking it would be more convenient for me to connect whatever device/app to the Hub via USB and control pedals from there rather than try to connect to individual pedals via USB/phone jack. So that was the context for my question, if that changes anything.
We have also figured out how to plug the app into one pedal in the chain and see all of them.
Hey SA guys ( @rsmith601 and company), I have discovered I can get my Orbital and Manta to enter some sort of ring mod mode. I am not sure if this is me not understanding the pedals or something. It happens when I press on the two preset footswitches quickly one after another and they both light up. Not sure if this is a feature, but it is very cool. Here is a video of it:
Good thought....Hey @nshuman but this doesn't work on the Dimension or OFD?
If so, my hypothesis is that the bug is related to tap tempo?

Hi nshuman,
It looks like you are enabling tap tempo mode and the tempo is being inadvertently set to a very high rate. This is due to something called "switch bounce" or "contact bounce" that is caused by the mechanical action of the switch. When switch bounce occurs in tap tempo mode, two rapid pulses caused by the bouncing switch are interpreted by the Orbital as two very fast tap tempo inputs, so the LFO is therefore set to an extremely high rate, hence the ring mod sound.
In later versions of the Orbital hardware, we included hardware switch de-bouncing in the footswitch circuit to resolve this problem.
For earlier hardware versions that don't include hardware de-bouncing, we updated the firmware to include a software de-bounce, which should solve the problem.
So, if you want to avoid this ring mod mode, just update to the latest version of the Orbital firmware using your Hub. ...of course, you're welcome to keep it if you like it.![]()

Of course I love this.... totally wacked out 8-bit sounding. Thanks for sharing. These are the other sounds I can get out of the orbital in this weird mode:

I saved it as a scene and this is what is saved on this hub:

Ok, so, here is a silly question, can I use a device that sends super high tempo clock via midi so I can use that to "enable" ring mod mode.
