While I’m waiting for my Aftershock to be repaired (by the way, @rsmith601 please thank Dave and Niko for their awesome help!), I made a couple of Neuro Presets for the C4 for bass and wind synth! I’ll post them to the community soon. With the Aerophone AE-10, I used the default sine wave, then designed a patch around it with the C4 and Collider (check out the last 20 seconds for the difference in sounds!)

Fantastic. That demonstration at the end revealed so much of what parts of the signal chain did what.

Good clean staccato technique is an absolute MUST with the Axel F patch, and use an expression pedal with the Above & Beyond patch to blend in some additional special sauce (a 2nd Saw wave, a little FM, and some extra Q).

It's pretty close, and I love it with some chorus on it, but dang... This patch will definitely test a person's playing technique. Gotta play clean and tight staccato for this one! I thought I played pretty clean until I started playing with Synth pedals. Kind of a humbling experience, but made me a better player. :cool:

Good to know about the fingerings, I was curious about that. I started with sax at age 11 and played all the way through college, and bass guitar took over. Not sure if/when I'll have need for a wind synth, but your video makes it pretty convincing! ha!

Is the Roland all built-in sounds or can it be used to control other MIDI gear? I’ve been considering the AKAI EWI as I’m primarily a woodwind player.

It can also control MIDI gear via USB as well as the built-in sounds, which is a lot of fun. Plus with their app you can create sounds (not as deep as the Neuro App of course haha). They just released the AE-30 Pro and it has MIDI over Bluetooth and looks pretty amazing but a bit pricey. The AE-05 is a pretty good alternative, since you can strictly use it as MIDI controller via Bluetooth or USB, but has way less built in patches.

I’m basically looking for something that has fingerings I’m used to and can control synths. Not fussed about internal sounds.

Thank you @Quatschmacher for that great upright preset! Did a streamed christmas show tonight and used it on a couple of songs. That preset alone makes the C4 worth the money.

Of course. We did a "live on tape" recording and it will be live 20/12 1900 (Swedish time) but as soon as a get a clip of one of the right songs I put it up here. Otherwise the concert will be on scenteknik.se/thischristmas

Awesome! Glad to see someone using pedals with the aerophone. I tried a few with mine and had mixed results, but hadn't tried the C4 yet. An analog octaver (3leaf Octabvre mkiii) strangely didn't work with a few of the presets. Anyone know why?

I mostly use the aerophone as a practicing tool because I live in an apartment with thin walls. The lack of 5pin midi out on the ae-10 almost makes me want to upgrade to the ae-30 so I can do a bit more with it, but the price is a bit much.

Send it to me, I’ll get to the bottom of it!:roflmao:

I use my analogue octavers on many of my presets. One possibility is that it’s doing odd stuff to the envelope detector. I use my octavers in the C4’s loop so my dry input triggers the envelope instead. Try using my C4 and Spectrum loop patches. Use keyword “loop” in the search function on Neuro and filter by my username.

You mean the octaver didn’t work with the Aerophone? I would guess that the voices you were using had too much harmonic content vs fundamental for the octave tracking to follow
