If i want to store more than 6 presets on my C4 and scroll through them during a set, all I need is a co triller like the Soleman, DMC or Morningstar. If I want to do the same with my Aftershock I need to add a Hub. Is that right?

i’m sure this has been answered before, but before I spend my money I want to be sure I’m right!

The C4 still needs a midi interpreter. The Disaster Area can interface directly with the C4 via USB, however the Soleman and Morningstar or Boss ES series will need either a DMC or a Neuro Hub. You could use a single Neuro hub to pass the midi through to the C4 and use it to create 128 Scenes, these could have C4 or Aftershock settings (or both).

There is an option I've run across but haven't been able to fully test yet. This is for C4 and AS, using the newest dmc.micro firmware (≥ 2.02): using the dmc.micro into the MIDI Box 4 and controlling both C4 and AS using the Neuro cables. (One limitation is that you could only use the 6 settings saved to your AS, not the potentially greater number with the SA Hub.)
So it would go dmc.micro --MIDI cable--> MIDI Box 4 -> neuro cables to controller inputs on SA pedals.
Right now the only way I can make MIDI clock work for my C4 is using the Neuro Cable from the dmc.micro.
I don't have the MIDI Box yet, but I have tested Neuro cable to each pedal. But it would take the box because Aftershock only wants to work on Channel 1 (and doesn't work with USB), and USB Host mode only works on Channel 1, so I can't get both to work at the same time without both being on neuro cables.
But I'm hoping to test it out real soon, I'll tell ya!

I personally run a Tech 21 MIDI Mouse to scroll through my presets through the hub. They aren’t as potentially flexible as the Disaster Area and Morningstar but they are dead simple to operate.

It's a great device. If I was running just a single midi device, it would be top of my list. Back in late 2017 there wasn't a whole lot of choice of Midi controllers out there and the Boss ES-8 and ES-5 trail blazed and created a midi controller and matrix switcher. Nothing like that existed before those two and they are still a top drawer choice here in 2022. Back then MorningStar didn't have anything like the MC-6 and ML5, it was a simpler market. I've often thought about migrating to MorningStar gear, but at the moment it's a bit of a side-grade. I already have a very competent midi controller with a 5 mono loop matrix switcher. It all works and doesn't cost me anything more. When the ML5x comes out...that'll be a bit different.

Get a Faderfox PC4 and you can map all of the 7 compression controls to Faderfox Midi CC dials.

Would you mind elaborating on how you use the PC4 with the C4 and the Ultrawave, in terms of connections/routing? Is it a MIDI splitter, or patched directly?

I'm about to give up and get one because I just miss having the tactile experience, but I'd like to make sure I get everything I need in a single batch.

So I fired up Neuro, updated it to 0.8.38 per the prompt, and plugged in my Spectrum. Neuro recognizes the Spectrum, but when I go to do anything pedal related (check for firmware updates, try to click on pedal settings, try to preview community presets), I get the spinning beach ball of death within Neuro, and it never comes back. I force closed and tried again 3 more times, getting the same issue each time. Issue on my end, or issue with the app?

I haven’t experienced that, but I hope it gets resolved quickly

And resolved quickly it was. A restart of my Mac fixed it. A weird issue, but hopefully this can help someone else if they run into the issue.

This happens a bit with PC’s too. I think that sometimes the USB drivers and hardware gets locked with a time out / delayed write. I get it a lot on removable USB hard drives. On PC’s there’s a utility on the Start Bar to stop USB devices before removal. But often a cold reboot resets everything. Im convinced USB 2/3 is a poorly envisioned interface. You don’t get these issues with Thunderbolt or FireWire, then again, there’s less you can do with those formats. USB devices tend to be more stable with a direct connection, ie without a hub.

I mentioned this option earlier and want to report back that it is fully viable. Just got in the Midi Box 4 and am running 3 SA pedals like so: dmc.micro PRO --5-pin MIDI-> MIDI Box 4 -> neuro cables out to Aftershock (ch1), UltraWave (ch2), and C4(ch3).
Again that requires your dmc.micro be at ≥v2.02a. I'm very excited.
