On the Hub, if you want to take the 1/4" expression signal and output it as MIDI, does that kill MIDI Thru? That is, if I have something hooked up to the Hub, can it merge this expression capability with the incoming MIDI commands or not?

There's no MIDI merge, so you have to choose Thru or outputting expression/HH as MIDI CC. One or the other.

Hmm. Today I am learning that apparently the merging is not very common for MIDI devices. I wonder why? Does it require that much technical attention? Is this even conceivable as a firmware update for the Hub specifically?

@rsmith601 If a firmware update for MIDI Merge on the Hub is not possible, is it too late to petition for it on the Reflex?

Also, I added some compression after the fact and even tried it through the meatsmoke pre with a bit of gain. I really need to stop adding new pedals and spend more time exploring what the SA pedals can do.

I have a BEF Pro en route. It looks like it can take any TRS expression pedal (like, say a Moog EP-3); do I have that right?

Even if that's the case, I might still do the SA expression pedal since I also have an Orbital (and Dimension, but think I'd use it more for the BEF Pro and Orbital). But, it costs double of course and I don't know if I "need" it for the Orbital like I "need" it for the filter.

Thoughts? [Edit: looked through the expression pedal supplement to the manual and saw mention of third-party pedals so I think I'm good. sweet.]

I forgot to clear out all of my presets before I packed it up. Number one and five were my favorites. Also, I had the EQ set to the extended mode. I believe there is a way to reset the whole box so, I would recommend doing that. There are so many parameters that I can't remember all that I changed.

I've got a Manta inbound that I can't wait to start experimenting with. Hopefully I can get the same single-peak filter sound that I had on the BEF. But, I am looking forward to the smaller footprint and hub compatibility.

Just left you positive feedback. This pedal is *deep*. I think it's a keeper. Just need to figure out the expression pedal situation, as I don't think I want to go HH.

It would probably kill the dynamics of the sensitivity. More consistent filter sweeps but not as much control over the intensity based on attack.

I would recommend putting the compressor after the Manta, that way it will keep your dynamics for the sweep but even out the peaks.

The reason I ask this is because when I play with the Hot Hand I have a hard time expressing the notes with only my left hand. Supposedly a compressor should take care of this, right?

Well, not to say that it wouldn't help, but that's necessarily what it's designed for. I really couldn't say yes or no to be honest, guess you'd have to try it.

In the meantime, get that left hand strength up!
