My terminology might be sloppy, because it's not two inputs, but rather, Thru and Transmit (MIDI generated internally from the unit, which could be thought of as a second input) can operate simultaneously. For some reason, this is apparently not easy? Eventide doesn't do it, and according to @gastric the Hub doesn't either.

What I'm wanting to do, for chain reasons, is have a master MIDI controller that might pass commands through the Hub and/or Reflex, without sacrificing the capability for MIDI commands that those units can generate.

Be thankful the Hub has MIDI Thru as a lot of MIDI capable gear does not even provide that. :)

If you need to do merging / splitting / etc. you should look into some MIDI utility products that do that. MIDI Solutions makes a lot of these types of products, will give you an idea of what's out there: http://www.midisolutions.com/products.htm At home I have an ancient ††that has 8 in / 8 out and can merge, route by I/O or MIDI CH, mute, slave clocks, and all sorts of crazy stuff I don't ever use it for. The non-USB models are super cheap used, but they're 1U rack units so not pedalboard friendly.

I have no idea why my Line6 M5 does not support MIDI thru, so I totally understand your point there.

I'm aware of the MIDI Solutions products. I'm probably going to get a Thru or a Quadra Thru at some point soon. I would rather not spend $70 (and figure out board space/routing) for a Merge if it's something that could easily be done in a product I would like to own in the future (such as the Hub or Reflex). Again, I'm sure there is some hardware and/or software reason that this is not just an automatic option?

I've been quiet on here, reformatting my band and switching it up siriusly. Now rocking a Bass VI as my main rig, and with it comes so very delicious uses of reverb and delay.

I would give my firstborn for a tap tempo firmware update on the Dimension Reverb's echo delay setting. It would be so, so, so, soooooo useful!

Unfortunately finally gave in and sold my Hot Hand. I just cannot integrate it into my band. Expression pedal is the way to go, and I'm so glad the Hub makes it easy peasy to chain everything into one pedal!

That's how I do it mainly (I do always play live with IEM). So I use the same headsets to tweak my tones that I use live. I need to validate the tones through my rig, just to make sure it sounds right through speakers but it almost always does...

No, I meant I am using a crappy Dean battery headphone amp. It was designed for guitar and I am pretty sure it sounds like crap.

At least get to the ballpark sound you want, without unsettling the neighbors. Then plug it in the amp and fine tune if need be.

I play IEMs as well and play through headphones at home. Works for me. Sometimes I have to fine tune since the subs transfer my sound much darker than I have them, so I make my sounds a bit brighter to compensate.

Gregmon, this could be a good starting point. It's JohnK's OCD setting (might have modified it a bit), you could modify it to suit your needs.

I have 2 that I go back and forth on depending on amount of dirt I need. I'll try to import them to the manager today so I can share.

Any more thoughts on this? I'm following up in part because the Hub manual indicates that "Other [MIDI] modes will likely be supported in future firmware/software revisions."

MIDI merge is best done in a stand-alone box. It is a very challenging task in a non-standalone product and very hard to add on to our existing design. There needs to be buffering, interrupts, maybe DMA....etc, etc. Ugly stuff.

Okay, different Hub/MIDI question...does the Hub operate on a single, selectable MIDI Channel or is it OMNI mode 100% of the time? Searching for the word "channel" in the manual comes up dry. And what of the same question for the output?

You can set this in the Hub Manager software:

MIDI Channel
Selects which MIDI channel the hub will receive and send messages on.

MIDI Input Omni Mode
Check this box in order to force the hub to disregard the channel number of incoming MIDI message and listen for messages on all channels.

Okay, thanks. Like I said, there's nothing about it in the regular Hub Manual. I even downloaded the Manager software, but without a Hub to hook it up to, it won't do much and let you see those options.

Follow-up question: in general, and in particular with the Hub, if I ask a MIDI device to "receive" on a certain channel, it will pass through all channels if the output mode is "Thru," correct?
