I just went to the Source Audio site and read this:
"*Note issues with macOS 14 (Sonoma) have been resolved remotely, no application update necessary"

So those of us pausing on installing Sonoma updates (~early 2024, 14.X) for this particular reason might be ok to proceed.

Side rant: I suppose it has always been the case that installing OS updates will break things. What is relatively recent is how difficult Apple makes it to revert when $#!+ goes pear shaped.

Just tested it and good to go!

One day I'ma record some serious stuff into the DAW so you guys don't have to hear my footswitches and squeaky chair and firetrucks. But hey, at least I'm not in my PJs this time sheesh!!! Baby steps OKAY?? LOL.

The EQ2 does have LPF.

Just to expand on this slightly. The EQ2 with older firmware had a separate, input HPF with not much range. Later firmware increased the upward range of the input HPF to 250 Hz. They also added a mode to Band 10, so it could be either a peak (peak/notch), a shelf, or an LPF-- all fully sweepable. In short, make sure it has latest firmware.

^ This is one of the reasons it's last in my chain ( after DG Infinity ) coloring my final sound (even though the DG Infinity has an AMAZING EQ).

Hey Guys,

I am new to the family, my new C4 just arrived. Just starting to explore it's capabilities, downloading community presets, etc.

Sorry if this has been asked many times already, tried to do my homework, but this thread is gargantuan.

Can You recommend / share some "basic" octavers or envelope filters? Nothing fancy, just want to have something to go funky for 2 default presets, no additional flavours, etc. Gonna explore synths by myself, but I bet that some folks already figured out some pro "pure" Ocatave and Envelope presets.

PS. Presets from Spectrum gonna work with C4?

There are pretty good Mutron type filter and basic octaver presets loaded into the first couple of slots from the factory!

Not even just in a pinch. Where a cab IR will give you a "jagged" EQ spectral shape, affecting specific notes & overtones differently, the EQ2 can give you a more smooth overall shape that affects tones more evenly across the range of notes.

The other cool thing is that if you wire it right, you can have the EQ2 at both ends of your chain.

EQ2 imo is up there with the best Source Audio has produced so far.

You and others commenting here are not helping me to delay buying the EQ2 as my 5th SA pedal! I've been trying to put it off for months now. LOL
At the moment I do some tone changes on the bass via pickup changes and EQ knobs but have been wondering about having the EQ2 do some of that work. Plus maybe I could drop the HPF pedal I have underneath my board. Pretty much everything else is MIDI automated now including vocal effects, so it's tempting to offload bass guitar knob twiddling as well.

When I switch to my bridge pickup, it sounds really good but is a little quieter. I use the EQ2 for a little makeup (clean) boost, and I add back a little low end while still having all that focused mid from the bridge. The HPF is per preset, so you can have it when you need it.

I have an Aftershock and an Ultrawave and a Soleman.
So if you were going to build a 3-4 pedal board of SA pedals built around the Ultrawave, which pedals would you add? The Atlas, C4, and Aftershock seem unnecessary since the Ultrawave can produce pieces of all of those pedals…. I’m thinking of selling the Aftershock and grabbing a Gemini, and a…..
I should also note that I’m not interested in any of the “big” pedals like collider or nemesis. Small pedal recommendations only, please.

That very much depends on the kinds of sounds you want to achieve. Spectrum adds lots of filter and octave choices, C4 has all that plus VA synth capabilities. The Atlas’ compressor is an expanded version of what’s in Ultrawave. Personally I’m really into Lunar (same as Gemini and Mercury just with different hardware knob assignments) more than Aftershock or Ultrawave but that’s because I’m way more into phasers than I am distortion.

My 11th SA Pedal is the Zio Bass . Other than Eventide H90 and H9... the only non SA are the Infinity and Boomerang loopers. Crybaby Wah and and Sushi Boxes and a couple preamps. H90 can replace the Nemesis and Ventris. Soleman ties all of it together.

It'd be nice to find some gooey mutron filter sounds (think Thundercat), Moogey synths, a solid suboctave, and/or something resembling an overdriven Hammond organ type thing.

All of those exist in the neuro app! You need the source USB to MIDI cable so you can get it plugged into your computer and start building/changing patches

I usually have moog envelope filters, pitch shifters, and a density hulk setting always loaded in for a range of “normal” sounds, but I’ve been messing around a lot with chord pads and slow gear type auto volume swells for ambient and synth-bass material

H90 can replace the Nemesis and Ventris.

On second thought - No! The Ventris and Nemesis do certain thing that you can't do on the H90 and there are 2 engines running on the Ventris - albeit only reverb and reverb-delay types

Question, on my last gig, I noticed that using the Neuro app to load patches on my C4 from my ipad, that the compatible Spectrum patches wouldn't load. Is this a new , to me anyway, bug from our mighty overlords at Apple? TIA for any insight.

That bug has been an issue for quite some time.
