Yeah, the clean blend and octave lower EQ options were nice, but i didn't think the algorithms themselves sounded very good on bass. I had one of the very first bass OFD prototypes and it was pretty clear that it was superior to the classic pro even in its early stages. Each additional firmware update only made it better.

I'm glad you're liking it, but In general I wouldn't recommend anybody buy the classic Pro over the OFD.

i'm surprised that you didn't care for it. it sounds great to me. IME, it gets a lot of sounds that the OFD doesn't do. don't get me wrong, I love the OFD, but I like the CDP just as much.

Different taste, I get it. They will have to pry my CDP from my cold dead fingers, but now that the OFD is out I too would recommend it over the CDP for more traditional bass type distortions. I tried to match my sansamp tone with the CDP and couldn't get those kind of tones no matter what I did with eq. I do see a lot of use of guitar distortions on here and in the early SA threads the CDP came up and SA added the clean blend and the lower octave to the CDP to make it more bass friendly, but honestly I don't even engage the lower octave. Now the clean blend it very interesting. Stacking the CDP and the BEF Pro I can hear the original clean tone making it thru both pedals and still don't understand how that works, but it does.

Even with the changes, to me it still felt like using a guitar pedal on bass...like a tube screamer on bass, sure you can get some tones that work, but in the end I just didn't find it satisfying enough.

hmmm. it doesn't sound that way to me at all. that said, I have a TON of 'guitar' pedals that sound awesome on bass (i.e. no low end loss).

BOSS OC-2 OCT1 > Manta with built-in bitcrush drive = awesome synthy fun.

When experimenting with the bitcrush drive voices make sure to try different drive/gain amounts as the drive voice changes significantly - different gating textures, different bass/treble tones, etc. Similarly, try different instrument volumes as it also changes the bitcrush drive voice significantly.

Lots of fun. LOTS of fun. :)

Invalid Link Removed 5+ minutes of the same filter with only variations in drive. The goal of this clip is to simply illustrate how the addition of the drive feature can take the exact same filter and change it in lot of different ways.

You hear the dry bass through MESA Walkabout DI, then the BOSS OC-2, then a the 100% wet filter voice with NO drive (not particularly usable but is there for contrast), then variations on that same exact filter voice with ONLY changing the drive amount, drive voice, and output volume in an effort to try to provide some volume unity from patch to patch. All other parameters remain identical throughout so the only changes you are hearing are changes the totally awesome drive feature can provide.

Really cool. This seals the deal for me. When I can I'm going to pull the trigger on one.. great clips. Half way through the clip were my favorite tones.

Glad you guys like it. I thought it was a lot of different tones from the same filter settings. I particularly gravitate towards the bitcrusher voices even though they're not always the fattest / deepest sounding depending on the voice and drive amount choices.

That's filter #2 btw.

A quick HH3 question. How long should it take to calibrate? I just got one in a trade and I'm starting to think I may have gotten a faulty unit. It seems to take forever and sometimes it just doesn't calibrate and I have to turn it off and try it again.

Mine seems like that but i need to sit down with the destructions and actually read them through. Maybe there's a YouTube I can watch?
