Source Audio UltraWave ~ Catch the Wave

Yes, the noise gate doesn't filter out noise. It reduces the volume of the signal when the volume is already below some threshold so you don't hear the noise when you aren't playing. So as soon as you start playing the noise gate will open, and the full sound, noise and all, will come through.

yeah, I understand noisegates.

But is the extra crescendo of hiss normal with mono > stereo > mono? Or have I not set something correctly?

Howdy! I scooped up a lightly used Ultrawave; it came yesterday and I'm getting familiar with it. I've got some modest degree of facility with the Neuro editor, since I already owned the Aftershock and C4 pedals.

There are two common effects I'd like to develop in either the Ultrawave or C4, and I'd appreciate any advice you veteran SA users might be able to offer.

I'm after a (relatively) clean octave up with Oct 0 and Oct +1 aligned as close in time as possible. I've used other octavers (Nano POG and Sub n Up) and it bugs me a little that the octave up lags the original pitch a little. Yeah...picky, picky, picky...but that's what I'd like to get, if possible. I've played around a bit with the Ultra's octave fold distortions (with the drive turned down) and that seems promising... And also with the C4's poly pitch shifting, but the octave up still seems to lag the original pitch for some reason; there's a good chance I've got something set goofy in the editor but I'm not sure what...

And the other effect is an envelope follower.

TIA for any suggestions you might have to offer this Neuro n00b!

The Ultrawave is not going to be your clean up octave solution but there are uncharted realms of textural sounds to be created. The single envelope is subtle but if you run the Ultrawave into the C4 then you have all the makings for creating.

Sadly after spending 6 weeks paddling hard to catch the wave with the Ultrawave, I got dumped, and the pedal has just been flipped. Really tried to get into to it but just didn’t connect with the sound of the unit. Not sure if its the i/o ADC/DAC’s or algorithms. Lots of scope for sound design though.

Is there a way with midi and the hub to jump between presets? Say I’d like to go from preset 2 to preset 8 and back again. How do I set it up, as i’ve not managed to do so with a morningstar mc6?
I’ve just managed to move up/down.
Easiest to program a switch on the morning star to call up one preset on the activation press, and the other when the switch is pressed again.

again with link!

Hi all,

Just want to double check this bluetooth receiver is suitable for UW? anything better in UK?

Just want to double check this bluetooth receiver is suitable for UW? anything better in UK?

Would prefer something (without the extended metal shaft) that fits more snuggly against the socket. But I guess need some clearance for other cable plugs.

Thanks!

You will need to use a Midi controller to send a CC patch change command. There is a CC message number for patch recall (the value is the patch number). There's one CC message assigned for patch call up (unit enabled) and another for patch call up (disabled). There's also another CC message that's assigned to jump one patch up and another for jump one patch down. To see these, you will need to connect your pedal to Neuro desktop (via USB) and view the midi assigns on the device. A lot of Midi controllers allow you to assign multiple midi commands to a single Midi controller device. My Boss ES-5 allows up to 8, I can also re-assign button presses to a further 8 CC messages. So effectively I can use 16 CC messages depending on the patch complexity and how I want to control the array of pedals on my board. I don't know what the upper limit is on the MorningStar MC6, but I suspect that it'll be more than you will probably need.

I'd say keep shopping, try Amazon they generally have many on offer that will have an 1/8" plug that you can use the cable included in the SA box to connect to the second input.

Hey thanks bassbrad,

I already ordered it and its now despatched ! Should work OK though, shouldn't it?

Not sure exactly what you mean here? "1/8" plug that you can use the cable included in the SA box to connect to the second input"

The 3.5mm to 6.35mm cable included is for the expression pedal, is it not? Dont need a cable for bluetooth??

No, if for use of the one communication of the mobile app with with a headphone Jack and input 2 on the pedal. This method was developed before phones started getting rid of the headphone Jack. Usb for mobile is new and not supported on all one series pedals.

Ah, right thanks.
So what lead does the expression pedal require? It goes into the (same) 3.5mm socket on the pedal, as Bluetooth adapter, doesn't it?

I’m using it right now to move up and down, but there’s not a way to jump to a specific preset then other than to scroll through them?
