Source Audio UltraWave ~ Catch the Wave

How do you use the ultrawave? How does it sound running into the c4?

Never tried UW > C4. I have it set up the other way.
For live band usage, I mostly use UW as a 2nd comp/eq/preamp with OD options. I utilise an expression pedal to swell in desired parameters, especially distortion. I like the edge of break up with some eq boost.

I jam about at home with some of the more exotic presets but my new band is mostly doing funk/dance type stuff (old band was alt rock), so less demand for stronger distortions.

C4 octaves into UW distortions are pretty cool. Trems on UW are sometimes useful.

UW is a fantastic adaptable multi function unit. Ive had it for a year now and still stuff to explore/experiment with.....

I haven't tried UW > C4 either. The foldback distortion sounds epic on the C4's synthy sounds. Foldback distortion was first used with synths back in the day.

I'd like to try the 2 outputs in different places method for the UW, like i use my EQ2 for, though that would mean stopping using 2 amps. My output 2 of the UW currently goes to a little eden amp that sits on top of my cabs and acts as a super tweeter haha and i love it. So many options with the UW!

In the old days, SA Multiwave >> SA BEF was the most common. Applying moving filters to all those harmonics was nasty. Might need to revisit Slurple Gurp video!!!! Will Cady SA classic.
That's why I currently go C4 > UW > Spectrum.
I know I could do wihout the Spectrum and put the C4 qnd UW in parallel, with some fancy routing between the two channel input / outputs...however...that'll make my head hurt too much in a live situation.

That is the best of all worlds! :)

Ok so you use the ultrawave to process clean sounds , ever use the foldovers to do any else. I haven't experimented as off yet...

I use the UltraWave either as a major part of my clean sound (EQ2, UW for tone/compression, Collider Room reverb), or I will absolutely use it for its much wilder side. I began my SA journey with the MultiWave Bass Distortion Pro, and loved the synthy foldover stuff, the morphing stuff, the Hot Hand, slight distortion, crazy distortion, and all in between. That lasted for about a decade, and the arrival of the UltraWave displaced it, and for many of the same purposes. The MWBDP was my always on clean boost. On one of the threads or videos @rsmith601 mentions the Atlas being derived from the UW as we knew, but that the UW's compressor was based on one that was in the MWBDP back in the day, and that is apparently always on, because I never knew it had compression. Or forgot it long ago. In any event, I do find I'm using the crazier side the of the UW more, partly due to the 122 more presets and the desktop tweaking versus the backpage menu on the MWBDP. I like to use it to come up with sounds to build a song around the preset. With the UW's ability to be extreme, I find I'll typically use the UW either on guitar or on bass for a particular song, as I've tried both, and things have a tendency to get loud quickly, perhaps a bit too loud, and dense.

I also love the multiband tremolo, especially with an expression pedal. All that said, I feel I still need to devote a lot more time to getting a better grip on making more precise tweaks. I had one sound that was like an aggressively bowed cello, and I keep meaning to go back to it and see if it can be made into more of a laid back cello. Then, I also want to further explore those 42 different distortion engines, and morphing 4 channels. As soon as my wife dreams up those winning lotto numbers, I'll get to weave sonic tapestries on a daily basis...

I finally got to spend some more time with the Ultrawave last night and tried out the presets for it from the SA homepage ([Invalid or Expired Link Removed])
WOW - these are all such great starting points for all kinds of sounds. Leave them as is and they'll easily replace 6 pedals, covering tremolo, slow-gear, OD, distortion, fuzz, compression. But obviously you can use a bunch of these algorithms in tandem, or change things up to your liking. I just shook my head in disbelief on how great these presets are and how I almost missed that link in my quick read through the pedal description. Highly recommended!! I have 40ish presets saved on my unit now.
Now I just have to spend many more hours/weeks/months or more tweaking the UW before I can say I am getting close the limits of this pedal.
And then... I still need to get to know my Collider better!

But for now, again the link for said presets:

I was as blown away as you when i got the pedal.. then got even more blown away when i got the duel expression pedal into the mix! Have you tried that? Love the UW, Love Source Audio!

Looks like a great pedal, I really like the C4 and the nueral editor.
thinking of getting it to go with my synth board(for recording) Future impact, C4 and Sy1000.
looks like to get multiple Source audio pedals you would need a nuero hub or can you just midi sync 2 source audio pedals via seperate usb?
My understanding that for the C4 and Ultrawave you would need a device that acts as a USB MIDI Host. I have all my SA pedals connected through a Hub to save scenes and for more memory for my Aftershock. I use both the Neuro hook up and USB as my setup includes a computer for constant access and recording. My FI is in a separate system with other synth pedals that I would run as a side car if needed.
