Source Audio UltraWave ~ Catch the Wave

Just ordered another Ultrawave, had a horrible experience last year with this but it still looks the best bit of kit for me on paper... Far better folks than me use this to great success, so I'm hoping I'm the issue!

I'm looking for a couple of very specific tones, as well as an authentic tube like drive and gated synth fuzz for stacking with my octabvre. Could anyone help point me in the right direction?

1)Omen - The Prodigy
Main lower synth (not higher melody part) kicks in around 16 seconds in

2) Clubfoot - Kasabian
Sounds like a parallel drive and fuzz to me, but I can't even get close no matter what pedal I use! Kicks in around 34 seconds in

Any help would be massively appreciated! Pedal comes Monday and I'm excited to give it another go!

I've literally only today been messing around with some patches that might do both of these examples. Can definitely have more of a go tomorrow fine tuning them.

I have a really good Tube patch that is very similar to the tube patch found on the Aftershock.
Firstly you want to by pass the Multiwave options, so choose "1-band (no Split)" for your band splitting option on each channel. This calms the pedal down substantially a turns it into a (regular ?!?) type of dirt pedal.

For you Distortion type, choose "1 Basic Distortion" of regular tuby overdrive and "2 Hard Clip" for a Silicon diode / forced clip style Fuzz.

If you place this on Channel 1, split the channels and select "mono / stereo / mono" routing, you can then place your gated fuzz on Channel 2 (with different eq and compression) and use a mapped knob to “Balance” (cross fade) between the two channels.
You also have the option of having a Morph distortion on either channel too.
Have a look though my patches, I’m sure I have something very similar: my patches are listed under “Gazzajagman” and usually have “GMC” in its title.

Ok: >EDIT< I've just posted "GMC OD / Screamer / Gated Fuzz)" which is modified version of my my most used "goto" dirt patch
"GMC Overdrive / Muff and Gated Fuzz" patch on my ultrawave. Use the Sustain knob to morph between a saturated Overdrive and a Screamer style Overdrive. Then use the Treble knob to "balance" between Ch1 (OverDrive and Screamer morphs) and Ch2 (Gated Fuzz).
However, listening to your two clips...Clip 1 could be achieved with the Overdrive and a high use of compression. Or you could use the gated and tweek to taste.
Clip 2 sounds to me a lot like a Tube Screamer. So I took my Muff patch (hard clip / Morph 2 on Ch1), I flattened the EQ and add a value of 164 to both 500hz and 2K sliders, and 200 to the 1Khz Slider for Morph 2 on Ch1. Then and you are pretty much in the ball park. I also added a bit of gentle compression. Please tweek to taste. Oh..and by the sounds of it...use a pick.

I've had a bash at doing both these and published them just now on the app...

Clubfoot -- sounds pretty close for me to the recording. Recently i like to split my signal at 500hz and have the low end clean and the highs distorted. Makes a massive difference in quality of sound for my setup. in this case i split the high end into two (morph) and tried simulating the overdrive and the muff.. It was difficult trying to recreate the top end 'harshness' of the muff breaking up but i think i got close.

Omen -- same split again but more compressed on the bass side. Used the envelope to try and mimic the movement what happens on the recording.

They sound alright with my set up but you might have to tinker with Mids + EQ a bit. I also found the Clubfoot tone to be good playing along with Shoot The Runner too

That's awesome! That's so much Tay and GMC! Can't wait for the ultrawave to arrive so I can get these downloaded... Just had a browse though the presets and saw them all there, gonna get em saved ready to go! Really appreciate you both going to that effort for me.

I'm hoping this can free up a fair bit of space on my board... Your patches could go along way towards that!

Yeh for me it replaced a Cali 76 CB and a Damnation Audio Curmudgeon....and nearly an MBD-2 but that has stayed

So I've had a play with the ultrawave through my headphone, and I'm still not entirely sold on the overdrives... It hasnt kicked my ehx hot wax off my board yet.

Some of the community gated fuzz patches though are unbelievable!!! Far better than anything I managed to conjure up with my old aftershock or on my C4, it's kicked my sovtek deluxe fuzz to the curb! I actually prefer these patches to the actual mastotron and diaboliks I've owned.

Question is, for not a great deal of extra money I could get a used HX stomp... The fuzz patches have me leaning towards keeping it, but I'm hoping the drives are just a case of a bit more play time...

Definitely give it more time. Play around with combining different drives. Set everything on channel 1 how you like it with a diode positive engine, copy all the settings to channel 2, then unlink the channels, choose diode negative for channel 2, and try cascading channel 1> ch 2. Just as an idea, any of those permutations. Try the expander instead of compressor for some added bite/grit/what have you. Try some of those presets you like and check out what they did to create them. Or just tweak it to your tastes and live off the amazing ones already there for a while to einforce how deep and awesome it is.

@GMC did some presets in this application

Beat me to it! :)
Seems like I can set it that way, but it doesn't seem to work that way if the routing option is mono in / stereo out. If it's on mono in, still appears to trigger the envelope from in 1. I may be talking nonsense, let me check again...

Thing is, if I use stereo in, then I get my 2nd channel out the other end which I don't want.

This principle works like a charm in the C4.
