Mine's just arrived (and love the new website!). Had a quick play, love it, very useable on bass. I'll wire up the board tonight and add a pic.

I just got my Utility Knife recently.

I compared it to my Spaceman Explorer and Voyager which is really unfair. The Spaceman pedals are analog, twice as large as the UK, and twice as expensive while each only providing one of the four effects of the UK. The UK is digital, which generally worries me when it comes to tone.

Still, the UK did pretty well. I liked the Spaceman pedals better, but not enough to justify either cost or board space. I'm keeping them for home use (bleeps and bloops) but the UK is on my gigging board. I thought I'd feel like it's a compromise like when I put the SA Orbital on my board but I really don't feel like I'm missing much -- it's wayyyy better than the Orbital and the difference from the Spaceman pedals would likely be lost in a gig mix. My only complaint is that it can pop through the speakers when you change effects -- muting before switching fixes that, so it's not a huge deal.

TL;DR - Utility Knife is a fantastic pedal that has not disappointed. Worth the cost and board room.

The UK is perfect for the small board for the band. All wired in now, loving the Utility Knife and Dispatch Master combo, especially with a touch of 5th Gear. Cali, Secret P and Studio 1 are always on, the rest are on/off in various combinations using the programmable switcher. Fun

Cheers dude, the top jacks on every pedal make it easier (I'll miss the Carbon Copy Bright but the DP is such a great pedal also); the combo of the Secret Pre and Studio 1 make the Sadowsky SBP-2 redundant (but I'll keep it, I love what to does to my passive basses). It's great having a tremolo without having to haul out the mobius on the big board.

I really want a Utility knife, it would complete my board, but I'm just not using modulation type effects with what I'm doing currently.

@BartmanPDX can you tell me more about the pops your are getting? Does it pop when you turn the pedal on/off, or when you change effect on the effect selector?

I finally was able to try my UK last night and it was doing the same. I really like the UK. My order of awesomeness out of the four would be flange, phaser, chorus, tremolo. I like the Bass Clone chorus more, so I'll prob keep it around, but the UK chorus is no slouch.

Yep. If you turn it off before you switch programs it's not an issue. Does not pop when turning on/off.

@SouthamptonPd @DirtyDuke I noticed that my new Fifth Gear's enclosure is just as tall as my Ictineo & not as tall as my Dunwich ODB-
Did you guys go back to the regular sized enclosures? I don't have my older Fifth Gear anymore (#058) but I remember it being taller than my new one, maybe.
Or maybe I'm losing my mind, haha

I'm still using the heck out of my one knob mini 5th gear. I prefer it to the version with more knobs just because it is so darn simple and does exactly what I want. Just slid it onto a rock record I was hired for. The track was more industrial sounding and needing a little bit so I tracked with the 5th gear on at 9 o clock through the whole tune.
