IIRC there’s been some problems with funding and something about a dispute involving a contract for Russian engines.

The punchline really should have been Sagan saying "Googolplex".
(And it's about time the poor production assistant, who had to write out all those zeros, and roll up that strip of paper, that Carl unfurled all around Cambridge, finally got the credit they deserve).
Although the fact that it landed at an altitude of -2 feet was a little alarming.
I'm guessing nobody is building a space port at 6 feet below sea level.
Joking aside, that felt like the real thing.
Branson's route would be the vision of the future, if we're still imagining manned endo/exo-atmospheric vehicles, akin to X-wing fighters etc.
However, plan B(ezos) captures all of the romance of what we have come to expect (and most of their customers will be nostalgic for) in a launch into space.
Importantly, it didn't feel like an advertising campaign.
