SpaceX and other space stuff

Very reddish exhaust flame from first stage against the dark sky. Wife and I watched until just after stage separation. Second stage was a small moving dot. We're 140 miles away.

Came back inside to make some BLT sandwiches. All hail the culinary delight that is...The BLT. :)

Learned something new today while trying to figure out how dark it'd be at launch, about 40 minutes after sunset. There are three types of twilight. Civil, Nautical, Astronomical. Designations apply for morning and evening. Time wise, more or less, 30 minutes apart for each. Never knew any of this.

What's the Difference Between Twilight and Dusk?.

Gee, that Rocket Lab nose cone looks a lot like the one in the James Bond flick "You Only Live Twice". :D

Rocket Lab Neutron:

And the one from Bond's arch villain Ernst Stavro Blofeld, the leader of SPECTRE:

Taken at Long Beach Airport, CA (KLGB). One of the advantages of working Airport Operations.
Aircraft maintenance was my life for over 20 years, which, of course, flight line activities and ops were a big part, ashore and afloat. Rewarding job I enjoyed. I miss the smell of burning JP-5 in the morning LOL.

Always enjoy the pics you post.

Did Maintenance, for American Trans Air's B737-8's, B757-2&3, and the marvelous L-1011, before I got into Airport Ops. Loved it!
