SpaceX and other space stuff

Whoever wrote the text is not familiar at all with the ISS or cosmic debris. If it's really the director of the center, then the guy operates on the accounting rather than technical part.
Realigning the station is quite easy. It can be done by whichever party, although the control panel is inside a Russian made module.

If the station was to fall onto Earth it would be a catastrophic waste but no damage or risk to expect. It's impossible to precisely control the fall of such a vessel, meant only to operate in space. There is no atmospheric control. You can decide were it falls in a 500km range, that's about it. Most parts would disintegrate. It would make for a cool meteor shower but that's about it. At worst a big part could shatter a couple buildings, nothing more.

The most catastrophic scenario would be way less lethal and damaging than one days of russian bombing. It however would be an act of stupidity of major proportions.
 
It wouldn't surprise me if, given enough time, SpaceX could concoct a booster for the ISS to keep it in orbit. What I don't know is how hard it is to control the ISS's maneuver capability. It needs to change altitude and trajectory to some extent to avoid space junk.
I imagine about 3 Dragon capsules attached in the right spots could do the job. More than enough thrust, just need to refuel occasionally.
 
And how about some news to make you feel small. Alot more stuff in the universe recently revealed.
