SpaceX and other space stuff

Kinda cool 'first' for me tonight. Watched the Chinese space station, Tiangong, fly overhead a bit after sundown. I already knew when and where to look, so, yeah, I cheated LOL

And because I'm easily entertained...

Fortunately, clever folk from around the planet are researching and advancing in concepts on many fronts to overcome the current limitations, as IamGroot said, of propulsion for space exploration. One step at a time from many different steppers LOL.

None of those will produce anything usable in my lifetime, I'm quite sure. But my expiration date is probably within 10 years, so 'my lifetime' don't mean much. Unless, of course, there's an accidental discovery. Either way, by accident or intent, a true solution will need to be along the lines of what we currently view as science fiction. Like that wormhole in the article. Or warp drives, jump drives, folding space, faster than light drives, etc.

In the meantime, I'm enjoying our current level of explorations.

Was just gonna post that LOL.

If anyone has the NASA tv channel, it's on there also. I keep switching to another channel, occasionally checking status. Keeps me occupied while I install some straplocks on a bass.

The spokesperson made a funny boo-boo earlier. With a pic of Orion and a close, large moon in frame, she called it the Earth and named some Apollo landing site locations in the pic LOL. Oops. Get that gal a double espresso, stat! LOL

Mars helo, Ingenuity, flew it's 35th flight on 03 Dec. Set an altitude record of 46 ft. (14 meters). The little helo that could LOL. Here's plan for 36th flight no earlier than 10 Dec.

Am currently watching Mars about to 'kiss' the moon. Occultation of Mars by the moon in about to occur. In Florida, I'm just outside the viewing area, so it'll be a grazing. Currently, Mars is within one moon-diameter away. The moon is quite bright, making Mars a bit difficult to see unless you block out the moon glare. Fortunately, Mars is at it's closest approach to Earth since 2020 and is brighter than normal anyway.

FWIW, it's a pretty common occurrence. Here's a pic of who can actually watch Mars disappear.:
