Well, I forgot about this, but... I guess it missed us.

Thought this pic was neat. Perseverance took a pic of the disabled helo sitting on a dune. Enlargement of smaller helo pic at left (I almost missed it LOL).
For folk that don't know, the helo can't directly contact earth. All it's info is sent to the lander, which then transmits it off-world. Once the rover moves on and they lose sight of each other, no more helo data/pics. Truly alone.

According to a new post at ArsTechnica this afternoon, it seems Voyager is in a little deeper trouble than the initial incident in November may have indicated:
"It would be the biggest miracle if we get it back. We certainly haven't given up," said Suzanne Dodd, Voyager project manager at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, in an interview with Ars. "There are other other things we can try. But this is, by far, the most serious since I’ve been project manager."

Well that's poopy. We're gonna irritate the civilization around a star called TYC 3135-52-1 by sending them broken stuff. Of course, it'll be 303,000 years before Voyager 1 passes near their star, but still...

The real problem is going to be when they figure out that we sent the lame stuff on that one, instead of something from the representative they had on Earth:
Musk said next Starship flight test in about 3 weeks. If they get gov approval to launch.

That reads like yahoo is catching up on the issues the Voyager team has been working on (noted above, even quoting the same ArsTechnica article). Either way, Voyager has still done far better than ever designed or anticipated. No shame if it's reached the limits of its computer.
Note to self: Change name to "The Creator," just in case it comes back with Persis Khambatta asking to "join with..."

yeah, I was going to say, we've all been napping, missed a new moon landing!
