It does look nice and the grain appears to run pretty true. Do they want the bad neck back? If I were in your shoes and they let me keep it, I'd be tempted to heat-set it and see if it stayed true. Or if the twist stayed present, I'd be tempted to pull the fretboard, plane it back to flat, and put a new board on it. Shame to have a nice looking neck ruined by a twist.

Yep returning it.
Too much work for a 70.00 neck to try and "save" it in any case. The twist in this case has little to do with the fretboard.
Heel and the headstock are on a different plane.
Were I a little more practiced, I would carve my own- and will soon; just not now.

Replacement neck arrived. It's straight!
Going to dye the body back and sides (orange)
Need to strip the seal coat off the neck in order to dye it orange.
Black dye to pop the grain first.
Will snap pics.

Dye is done on the the body will cap with the drum wrap tomorrow.
Pretty good match and the Keda dye worked wonderfully!

I may even dye the maple fretboard and back of the neck to match.
The headstock will get the glitter treatment .

Seal coat applied , too windy to do more. Going to do black faux binding to cover edge of drum wrap * need to learn how to do binding for real.*

This glass glitter needs to be seen with the naked eye it's unbelievable! (Don't tell Sparkle )
I have a second sheet.
I think I'm doing a short scale tele guitar body with an electromatic neck, ebony fretboard black lacquer.
That will look fantastic capped with this Super Tangerine glitter!

Ok black faux binding seemed too tame. Gold glitter?

Drumming my fingers waiting for the poly to dry (72 hours) to start deepening the coats.
Super glued some missed pits around small knots on the side of the body, and some chips that will be partially hidden by the tuners.

Waiting for paint to dry auuuuugh!

I will route for the pickups and drill for the T.O.M bridge likely tomorrow.
Still debating VVT vs VBT vs VT with 3 way LP style toggle.
The jack will be top mounted.
Shield paint the cavities. Just got a loooong 1/8 inch bit- will drill from the butt of the body to the cavity, (undecided as to whether to go to the bridge pup cavity, or angled to reach the control cavity) to ground the tailpiece.

Arrrrggghhhh! Gold Glitter! I salute you, Sir. Thing is though, that really wants to be drowned in clear so it looks like a bass fishing boat, to bury the glitter in enough clear to keep it flaking off later. How many coats you planning? This might be where something like Solarez or one of the other new UV activated clearcoats would come in handy, no waiting for paint to dry.

YEP the plan is to bury it deep , I plan on several (MANY) carefully, patiently applied coats.
I did a test piece, and that seems to be good with about 4-6 coats of buildup to go smooth so I figure 12 to get it glassy.

The clear is shot, @ 12-13 coats.

just waiting for it to cure.

Rattlecans are a PITA, so I have some wet sanding to do, will get pics during that process and during final assembly.

It really does look much better in person! It's actually much more sparkly than my L2500. (Don't tell her)
The drum wrap is glass shards imbedded in a colored medium, so the effect is like a highway sign.
Today got it sheilded , wired up, leveled frets. Chrome knobs are temporary.
Pooh does it sound nice. Being a heavily chambered body with a maple cap, unplugged it's loud!
Plugged in, with those giant vintage DeArmond humbuckers, connected with 500k pots, it's definitely got that hollow body vibe goin on. I'm sure the trapeze tailpiece , and the tune o matic sitting over one of the cavities contributes. I'm totally digging it !
Too hot to finish the cavity cover (103f) today, it will be covered with the drum wrap too.
