Looks like an EMG system from the stacked knobs... I'm very tempted by this one but I have a feeling the price will get too far up there for my taste because of the upgraded hardware and electronics. Still it would look great next to my Natural finish NS20004.... :ninja:

Ahh. The strap is NIIIIICE. Love this strap!!!!
Very comfortable, very secure feeling on the shoulder gripage. Should squelch any neck dive problems one may have and distribute that 11 pounder's weight quite nicely.
I do like the double attachment system, too.

Does anyone cut the holes out bigger for the Schaller strap locks or do y'all just squash the excess leather with the washer?


My only complaint is that since they only come in XL length and I wear my bass a little lower than I do if I was sitting... The SPECTOR logo is too high and barely comes over my shoulder. I'll be having the front strap shortened and resewn to facilitate getting the logo more in front of me than on my shoulder.

Yeah, you can't go wrong with them. I sent Jason a PM out of the blue and he responded back to me within minutes and rather than recommend something real quick, he asked me what I was looking to do and wanted to get more information from me before he would recommend a set to me. We literally exchanged 8 messages before I made a purchase which I thought was just great since I had never even talked to the guy before and he didn't know me from anyone else.

I won't name names, but I tried to message another place with similar questions and never received a response from them so they won't get my business. Yeah, Jason sets you up for the VIP pricing, you can really get great deals and he even will price match if you see them cheaper if I am not mistaken.

Could someone identify this Spector for me please? The retailer only shows it as a Czech-made 5-string. Pickups are EMG (-HZ, IIRC). I'm thinking it's a Rebop, and since the inlays are dot & not crown, it's a few years old. Other than some buckle rash on the back, it's in pretty good shape.

I'm looking to add a 5-er to my 4s, and this one is in the running. The retailer's website lists it as new, but I'm sure that's a mistake. Once I figure out which model it is, I'll have a better handle on how much $$ to offer.

It looks like Rebop to me, too. From 2002-2004. But I'm no expert. Invalid Link Removed

It's not quilted maple... highly figured... it's NOT an NS-2O.
The trademark of those guitars was that they were always (or at least the dozen or so I've seen) highly figured with beautiful AAAA quilt (solid) wings.

My bet is what the seller says... it's a modified NS-2A. The serial on the back cover, bland wings and non-Haz type circuit - meaning it's been changed and why would anyone ever take a real haz out of an NS-2(O)?...

It looks like a refinished NS-2A that someone put a USA Bridge on.

That is a ReBop 5 made between 2002-2004

2nd bass down on this page.

They usually sell now for $500-$700. Even if in perfect cosmetic condition it shouldn't go for more then $750.

Always. It's a cleaner install with a better area to tighten the washers against and the little slit that facilitates the easy on and off of a regular strap button gets spread open and looks like Hell. I now use one of those leather hole-punch plier tools to nibble that area a bit larger. Works beautifully. A small X-Acto razor knife certainly works as well but is a bit more effort.

+1 on its a refinished NS-2A.

Looks like a EMG BQC Pre

The Pickups may not be EMG,

It is hard to tell if there was a EMG or Spector logo that has been worn off on them.

They maybe the Dragonfire knock off EMGs. You may want to ask the seller for a photo of inside the control cavity.

At the moment, its still at a decent price for anyone that wants a Natural NS-2A to keep as is or refinish in the color of their choice :bassist: I wouldn't pay above $650

Thank you, LimaGuy. Since the buckle rash gives it away as not being "new", I guess the $999 that the shop is asking is ridiculously overpriced?! :rollno:

Maybe I'll show him the link you posted, as well as a bunch of TB classified searches I just did, and offer him something a bit more realistic to the market.

I messaged the guy about the pre, also thinking its an EMG BQC. Asked him for a pic of the control cavity.
I might bite if the price stays right, the BQC's super flexibility is the only thing that makes it appealing to me versus the original awesome haz-copy.

Below are two classic examples of an NS-2O and then a more unique version owned by Lynne Davis that has figured wings but more curly type figuring than quilt.

Another thing about the NS-2O... it has unique pearl dot markers. They are very large and the 12th fret markers are very close to one another. No other SPECTOR has dot markers like the NS-2O. The NS-2JA and NS-2JA-R markers have similar spacing at the 12th fret but the markers on these basses are very small.

I know the place you are talking about that is selling that and both Limaguy and I noticed that bass the other day. I have that exact bass and paid MUCH less for it so to advertise that bass as new is just comical.

Just as a reference to show how this is way over-priced, Guitar Center is selling a newer version of this exact bass for $699. Go to Guitar Center's web site and click "used gear" on top in the red area. On this right where it says "keyword" put in 107113955 and click search now. This one has the crown inlays on it which is what is on all of the newer basses as they haven't used the dot inlays on these models since 2004 if I am not mistaken.

These really are great basses though and if you can get one for a good price, you should jump on it. Mine is from 2002 I believe and I just love it to death.
