Looks like a EMG BQC Pre

The Pickups may not be EMG,

It is hard to tell if there was a EMG or Spector logo that has been worn off on them.

They maybe the Dragonfire knock off EMGs. You may want to ask the seller for a photo of inside the control cavity.

At the moment, its still at a decent price for anyone that wants a Natural NS-2A to keep as is or refinish in the color of their choice I wouldn't pay above $650

It's actually a good looking chunk of wood. Good to know. The bridge routing is pretty sloppy.

Below are two classic examples of an NS-2O and then a more unique version owned by Lynne Davis that has figured wings but more curly type figuring than quilt.

Another thing about the NS-2O... it has unique pearl dot markers. They are very large and the 12th fret markers are very close to one another. No other SPECTOR has dot markers like the NS-2O. The NS-2JA and NS-2JA-R markers have similar spacing at the 12th fret but the markers on these basses are very small.

Thanks for posting the pics of the NS 2o. Its a nice looking spector, I'd like to get my hands on one someday. The one on Ebay the other day was at $2500, I felt it was to high.

The new K3 coating is longer lasting and feels good to me, a little brighter than my old strings...

Happy to hear you're liking your new comfort strapp! I love mine! I have the same problem with SPECTOR logo being on top of my shoulder...and I'm 6'2"! I might have my wife shorten the front strap a bit. I have the straps extended out all the way and it's above my waist.

How's the long sleeve shirt fit? I've been thinking about ordering one.

Yeah $2500 is the high-end I'd pay for an NS-2O

They're real NS-2's... just without a gloss finish, stained wood colors and neck inlays.

Think of them as the version 1.0 of the Forte. Same concept. Except the NS-2O had either the Korean-Made NS-2A circuit or the USA 9v (Haz) circuit. The retail cost ran from $2000-$2700... So considering that they are awesome playing USA hand-made Kramer Era basses... $2000 - $2500 is a fair range for one in really good condition.

Yeah thanks... and besides being an awesome bassist, Bass Guitar Mag dubbed Lynne "LA's Groove Goddess"... she's a wonderful person to know and be friends with.

She's had her NS-2O since the late 1980's... She says that as a new artist right out of music school Stuart was willing to work with her allowing her to make payments for the bass so she could get it. She says he gave her her first break in the industry. She absolutely loves Stuart.

She's been a dedicated SPECTOR Artist for over 20 years... adding several NS-2s to her stable and an NS-4H2... She has one of the most killer NS-2 Buckeye Burl models I've ever seen. It was the "killer NAMM Show" bass in 2009.

She moved to Austin, TX about two years ago but made it to last year's NAMM Show. I should check to see if she's coming this year. Truly a lovely lady... talented and kind, very smart and very pretty.

BTW: Look at her fingers in this photo. They scream "Serious Hard-Core" musician. No manicure or pretty nail polish. This lady has dedicated her life to music and her skills are really killer. If any of you ever get the chance to meet her and talk to her... besides being very chill and friendly, she's also one of the top bass music teachers in the country. I've learned a lot from her myself from looking at some of her lessons.

On my CRFM, i feel like the 40DC's are lacking oomph when soloed. They are upgraded to 18v with EMG BT preamp. When blended 50-50, it's awesome. I just get useless tones when soloed though. It could be my amp, however.
How is the BQC preamp?

Yeah, the front strap needs to be shorter to bring the logo out in front of the chest.
The shirts are cool.
I haven't tried them on yet. Gonna wash em first. The long sleeve is kinda thermal looking wth the pin striping design.

I went string changing again today a decided to put HiBeams back on the Forte instead of the tighter tension LoRiders. So I am selling the LoRiders.

If you are not familair with these, great slap response. Tighter then ususal tension since they are Hex core. Really clear low end but still have clear mids & highs.

Wouldnt recommend them for a Euro since they do produce some weird overtones on a Euro as a few people have mentioned
But they are amazing on a Forte, NS-2A and ReBop.

The lo rider steels are my favorite for my NS2a. The extra tension fits my playing style better than hi beams.

The Neons for some reason went dead really quick and boiling them made them worse.

lol! Boiling strings is silly enough in the first place, but you definitely do not want to boil a COATED string!

I wonder if Phat's washing machine method would work for those...
I'm actually kind of curious. I don't really clean strings anyway- I like the sound of dead rounds, so I only change sets when I break a string.

More on that upgraded NS-2a on the 'bay, seller posted control cavity pics and I am 90% sure it is an EMG BQC preamp, and to me the pickup leads look like older EMGs I had in the past. Can't say the pickups are EMGs for sure, but the preamp looks identical to the BQC, the blend pot might be different.

For some reason, my spector sounds better with fresh strings. My p bass sucks with fresh strings, the modulus doesn't really matter.

But I can confirm, don't boil coated strings.

I keep my hands very clean and as dry as I can when playing so my strings tend to not go dead very fast if I'm careful.

Man, this club moves right along....I was burning up the roads over Christmas, so never got a chance to post, so here's a delayed Happy Holidays to everyone. In the last club thread, guys were talking about cabs. Might be too late, but I get a great tone out of a Mesa Powerhouse 1000 (410 + 115 in a single cab). Depth and punch, and it sounds great. Alot of guys don't give these cabs a chance because of the issue of mixing speaker sizes. Beaver at Bass Central said he was playing through one, with a M9, i believe, so I decided to give it a chance. It kills with a Spector

That's cool! I've checked out her online lessons and downloaded some of them, but I haven't slowed down enough to actually walk through them. Which I really should.

Her finger nails was one of the things that I noticed also. My thoughts were, this is one serious musician!

I'd love to meet her sometime if our paths happen to cross.

Have you tried the alcohol soak method?

Never tried any of the coated strings.
I keep my hands very clean and as dry as I can when playing so my strings tend to not go dead very fast if I'm careful.

+1! I make sure that I don't even put on hand lotion until I'm done playing my bass. Plus, I usually don't keep a bass long enough to wear out strings! :roll eyes: Hoping that will be changing WHEN I receive both of my new Fortes.

Yep! Too late! :roll eyes: I bought a Fridge!!! Ampeg SVT-810e I see different bassist mixing speaker sizes but not the pro's so much. I'd love to hear a sound clip of your Mesa Powerhouse 1000! Plz One thing that I like about the "Fridge" SVT-810e is how you can split the cab electronically into 2 410's with 2 seperate amps if you wish to. So theoretically 2 bassist could play on the same cab? It should be arriving Friday!!! Then I'll test the limits of my PF-500.
