SPECTOR® Club - Part 23

I'm on 10.7.2, and I really love it. I've had nothing but good things to say about the new OSX, and it's been a really easy transition for me coming over from a PC. This is my first mac, so I'm not really too sure about bugs or issues, etc, but I really haven't had any problems, and I've had the computer about a month now. Great machine IMO.

Wow, thats about the same with me between 1-2 months for me with this Mac, also my first.

its as easy as this.....

drag the song file into GB. Select the track and go to the right of the screen.. On the EQ section (lower right hand corner) there are default filters/setting you can remove the bass from that part...

Got a lot of exploring to do tomorrow.

Were you getting a level on the track you made but you just couldn't hear your bass? If your interface has a MIX knob, you may need to mess around with that to even out the levels in your headphones. If not, make sure that the monitor option as seen in the screenshot below is ON, and not off.

You don't find that you clip the preamp when you do this? I try to boost bass on my onboard EQ, but it seems to just turn to an overdriven mess of mud. Boosting the treble works pretty well, though.

Heres the link I found yesterday, seems to have a decent bit of info, if you click on 'The Bridges' you might find some useful information.

Cool!!...I am also having a hard time hearing my bass...Thanks!!!

Great choice and macs are really quite easy to work with, especially Lion OSX.

Oh, that is a great idea. I never even thought about checking Youtube out for help videos. I do have a Garageband dummies like book but it doesn't really cover what I want to do with it which is record bass over MP3's so I kind of lost interest real quick. It's more for making your own music but that is a great suggestion.

I am still running Snow Leopard since I really didn't see much of a reason to buy Lion but is there a new version in Lion? Maybe it's time I just bite the bullet and upgrade since I am sure they have ironed out any issues if there were any.
Lion is worth it and makes running GarageBand even easier.

Thanks guys, that is a huge help. The only other question I had is if there is anything specific I need to set to get my bass to play along with the mp3? I tried it once before but when the mp3 was playing, I couldn't get my bass to play over top of it. I was obviously doing something wrong but these pointers will definitely help me get to where I need to be so I really appreciate it.

First, let me go buy Lion and install that first :)

+1!

Went to the one in North Attleboro cause I live in regular Attleboro.

Of course the last place I check which is guitar center actually had a 2x12.
Played a Mesa Boogie 0P212, and was definitely impressed, I guess with modern speaker cabinet technology I don't need to have a 15" these days to get some nice lows (the lowest I tuned my bass when I tested the cabinet was to was drop C#, I don't really play fivers).

My only complaint was that you couldn't turn off the horn, there was just a knob to boost it or cut it by a few Db each way. Fortunately it was subtle enough that some tweaking of the amp EQ (I was testing it with an amp that had a 6-band analog EQ) I was able to get rid of the crispness it added.

I don't suppose anyone has been able to compare one of these to cabinets to the Genz-Benz neox212t? The mesa also had neo speakers and a few ports, but I'd like to know if I can get more...growl I guess with the Genz-Benz. The Genz-Benz also is more of what I want in the shape of the cab (the Mesa was like a cube whereas the Genz-Benz is more rectangular, I like taller cabs) and also the Mesa was 8ohms and I would prefer 4 ohms like the Genz-Benz.

Thoughts? The Mesa was nice but overall it doesn't have all the features I want, the Genz-Benz has all the features I want, but I was not able to find one to hear it.

Remember that GC has a 30 day money back guarentee 100%. I know it'd be a bit of a hassle to ship back a cab but that's one way to try something out. And they all the time running sweet deals.

Last night we had our best rehearsal to date! Everything just worked and clicked perfectly! The drummer was on point and a lot revolved around his precision.
We even had a small "audience" for the first time!

Even through our room where we practice sounds crap, I'll tell you, the sounds I am getting from my gear is simply insane.
Not to get back into the whole Spector / Ampeg thing, but WOW it really is an amazing combination!!! I messed with the EQ a bit more and after the first song the guitar player came closer and with a smile on his face said "Dude, that sounds sick!" :bassist:

Very awesome seventhframe!
Still hoping to try some Ampeg!

Man, speaking of awesome bass tone, I am at Mandalay Bay to see Tool tomorrow night (saw Disney on Ice today with the kids, we live in Vegas but are staying here for a fun weekend with the kids) and was just looking through the room service menu.

SO, should I get a new USA NS-2 or have a bottle of Louie XIII cognac delivered to the room for $4,200.00?

Anyone here wired their TP with volume, bass, treble, balance? I have the diagram and was going to try it, I think I need a different pot?

Or you could play the odds, count some cards and get both...?

I'm kidding - what are you crazy? Get the NS!

Me too, can't get enough of Justin or his tone, so pumped to see then again. This is only my second time, but after seeing them the first time 2 summers ago before I got sick, I promised myself I wouldn't ever miss a chance to see them again.
