I am only opposed to ordering new because of the price difference, money is important right now as I ordered the LE spector.

I did not realize the Mesa was that heavy, at GC it had like 3-4 amps stacked on top of it so I wasn't about to try and lift it. The Genz-Benz is listed at 62 pounds, so that might be the deal-breaker for me, with the shape of the mesa 212 it would already be kind of awkward to get down the stairs.

Maybe it was just using an underpowered amp (200 watts) when I was testing it but I could not get any grit when I really dug in.

Can you guys help me? There is a beat up older euro rebop 5 I'm looking at. Which pre-amp should it have TP or Aggie? It is super powerful and I've read a few things about the TP and a trim pot. Are Aggies that powerful or would it be a TP wih the non-trim or what? any guesses? Any pics to tell difference, as I'll try and take a look but not a pre-amp expert.

This bass is very well used and is almost on the beatup side but that is something I can live with or have refinished if needed. It even has a screw in the body near the rear pup for no reason. the knobs are silly skulls but I can get new ones of those.

What is a reasonable value of a bass like this?

Should be a tone pump. Probably a nontrim if it's an older model. If it's well used/nearly abused I wouldn't go past 400-500.

I have a natural Rebop just like that and the serial number is NB1726 so its probably from around 2002. I only know that because I asked PJ and he said that should be the year it was made. Mine has the older Tonepump without the trim pot so that is most likely what is in that bass also.

It's tough to tell from the picture but what is the deal with the knobs on that thing? Were they just taken off or is something else going on there? As a reference, I bought mine used from Guitar Center recently and paid $450 for it.

The knobs are ugly as hell. I'm assuming I acn pickup any knobs and replace, correct? How much are knobs?

It is heavily scratched and major wear thumb inpressiions in a couple spots.

How are you liking yours? What shape was yours in?

Knobs can be ordered from Spector for $20 a set.

I really like mine. When I called Guitar Center, they said it was pretty scratched up but when i received it, I didn't think it was nearly as bad as they said it was. The good thing about the natural finish is the scratches don't show up as easily so you really have to look close if you want to find anything.

You should be able to pickup that bass for a great price and it's an excellent bass with a super fast neck.

Not to get back into the whole Spector / Ampeg thing, but WOW it really is an amazing combination!!! I messed with the EQ a bit more and after the first song the guitar player came closer and with a smile on his face said "Dude, that sounds sick!" :bassist:

For you that are looking for light weight cabs...The reason Ampegs are heavy is because they use thick 11-13 ply Baltic Birch plywood for that big and warm solid sound, heavy magnet speakers etc... :bassist::D
