Sounds like you are talking about a 4 string if you are mentioning the Euro Classic. That has 19mm spacing which is standard on the 4 strings. At least, I think that is what it is since the Spector site lists it as 0.75" but I am terrible at math :)

Rockstarbassist was asking about a 5 string with wide spacing which is offered on the USA bolt-ons so it would bring the spacing from 0.66" to 0.75" I believe.

Yep, if that wide spacing was available on the neck-thru models... le sigh.

Yeah, talking about 4 stringer, sorry about that. Isn't 19mm standard no 4 stringers? I thought Spector 4 stringers have narrower string spacing.

The "Wide 5" has a wider neck and bridge (obviously), but also has a very slightly larger body to accommodate these changes. Its tough to notice. I have to imagine they have not yet offered this option on other string/neck combinations because it would require huge tooling changes. And, the amount of people who want a wide 4 string compared to a wide 5 string is minuscule.

Although I haven't got my hands on a wide 5, this (Ds1 quote) is probably untrue because all Spector bolt-ons use the same 4 string sized body. They just route a bigger neck pocket for 5 and 6 string necks, thus making it unlikely the current wide 5 (probably close to a bolt-on 6 pocket route) body would be made any differently. The pictures we've seen seem to bare this out.

This would also make the larger width of the body on a neck-thru (same sized body wings on all, just a wider neck plank on 5's and 6's) wide 5 a non-issue since it wouldn't be any wider than a regular neck-thru 6.

Retooling? They would use the same nuts, bridges (Hipshot A), pickups (probably EMG 40's or 45's) and overall tools and materials they already have to make a neck-thru wide 5.
No retooling needed.

It is standard. The Legend 4's are just a hair narrower. Not sure without checking on all the other series.

It's a 2000 NS-J2 #093 Bolt on, 34" BQC 9vdc preamp.
Yes on the walnut stained SOLID Flamed Maple wings, now with a solid Mahogany spine.

I bought it from a dealer who closed his store and took it home unsold. I was the original purchaser but, it had been in a little house fire.
I have a restoration thread about it here http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f57/00-spector-ns-2j-firebass-gets-new-life-760724/ where it got a solid Mahogany spine added during the process. It sounds great!

I go back and look through the thread at the pics and am sooo happy I didn't pass on it and let it get gutted for parts. It's an awesome bass. The neck is now very similar to my Ian Hill and my old 90's Ibby SR1200. I play it as much as My Ian Hill, which has a BQS 18 volt in it and DR Neon Green strings.

Here is a pic of the back... Still has the plastic on the control cavity cover...

Very nice mudpup! My matte black Euro 435 should be here Thursday from Bass Central. Best part is they did the BEAD setup for me in less than a day for a very reasonable charge. Can't wait....

just read thru the restoration thread! That is am amazing story to go with an amazing bass!

You did an great job bringing it back to its former glory! ...maybe even better than the original!!

Endorsed Spector Artist Christy Lichtenstein (Cowboy Mouth, Stattica), met with me at her hangar where she keeps her experimental Pitts stunt plane for her "My Spector Story" video shoot.

Her Q5-Pro was recently painted to match her plane and she had EMG DC pups and the EMG BQC circuit *@ 18v installed.

She has NS-5XL #19 and NS-5XL #78. She's been a Spector Artist 12 years and her #78 is a custom ordered flame maple (natural oil finish) lined fretless.

She gigs with her Q5-Pro and her Euro5LX. She rarely takes her "babies" out.

I took The Black Pearl because she's interested in an NS-5XL with maple fingerboard, and of course it ended up in some of the shots. LOL. :bassist:
