Gonna try and breakthrough the Spector p0rn here.

Anyone here use the Tech 21 VT Bass pedal with a solid state amp? I have an Eden WT550 and I'm trying to dial in "THE" Ampeg sound with this pedal but when I use the suggested setting for SVT I just get a big boomy distorted mess. This is with the trim pot at 50% on my Euro and the bass tone control set to what should be flat (about 25% open).

I've tried in front of and behind my EBS MultiComp but nothing sounds that great. I've tried it without the comp in the mix either but still nothing great in terms of tone. The amp itself is set flat on EQ.

I've had this thing plugged direct into a mixer and haven't liked it any better there either. There are so many good reviews out there I can't believe I can't get a good tone out of this pedal unless I suck that much at tone shaping.

Any feedback is appreciated. I'm basically just looking for a slightly dirty and grindy sound through my Eden rig.

I almost always use the Tech 21 VT Bass pedal(deluxe). The thing missing on the pedal is a blend knob so I use a boss LS-2 pedal to mix the distorted sound with the dry signal. The pedal is very sensitive so don't use to much distortion.
This is an example with the VT pedal.

Even if you want a slap sound you can use it to make the sound more "alive" sounding.

My previous rig was a SVTII Pro + 2 4x10" ampeg cabinets, but I could not rely on it. The amp just jumped into protection mode in the middle of a gig, so I bought a Glockenklang. This amp never let me down and with the VT pedal I can get that SVT sound. It's not exactly the same as a SVT, but it does the job.

I'm sorry for the bad playing I was just trying to set up my bass and check the sound.

What are the specs on your NS-2J? It looks killer!! Is that walnut stained flamed maple? Did that stripe come from the factory?

I put the order in Nov. 19th, 2011. I would've bought one off BC but I want to customize mine.
I know what you mean about different color...after LimaGuy posted a blue & a green stained matte finish back in whatever part that was when we were putting together "THE Spector club Forte bass", now I really would like my fiver BLUE. Might have it refinished after getting it.

What customizations did you get done? I missed LimaGuy's colored pics, I got here just after that all fell apart. I think we should come back to that idea at some point!

What would it cost to have one refinished? I would love to have one with a natural finish!

Just entered the Spector family. Read great things on this brand. Scooped up a used Q5 (first five string!) for pretty cheap. Hope I like it.

Ok, I'm having SAS again.

I used to have a Rebop 5, but sold it to fund the purchase of my Forte. Sold my backup Yamaha 5er as well. But now, I'm SASing for a 5er - light weight. Really dig this sound:

I like that video of "Autumn Leaves"! Definately the ReBops with gloss finish have a different tone than the natural finished, and I like the tone better too. I have SAS for a fiver too but I'll exercise the virtue of constraint and wait 5 more weeks for my Forte 5. Sigh!

My Kramer era NS2 Haz is Vol/Blend.

That seems to be the way for USA Haz pres.

I was relying on the TB app to push notifications to my smartphone. It has a hit and miss performance. I got some "pushes" but not others..

I'm really glad to hear that you're doing okay Trace!

I got so frustrated with the TB APP goofing up continuously and the powers to be not able to fix the problems, that I finally just deleted it and I use the Safari web browser instead. I've never seen an APP so plagued with issues!

I had the OBP3 and EMG-40P5 40J added.

For the colored depictions you'll have to go back a few parts or contact LimaGuy.

Not sure what it'll cost to refinish the Forte. From what I've seen on here from others it seems to me that a high gloss goes for around $800.00?
A natural finish would look sweet with the highly figured Flame Maple. A gloss finish would really make the grains pop!

I got my Ibby in last week and I forgot how much I LOVE the 35" scale/19mm spacing combo. That's what I had on my ex MTD 535 and it was just perfect.

If I were to go with another USA NS-5, would this combination be available? Would they maybe use the NS-6 neck or something? Just curious.

Well years ago they toured europe in a small VW van and a dutch television company made a documentary. I was suprised by the sound of the bass when I watched the show. This bass must have cost a fortune, because he couldn't afford clothes ( just wearing a sock) LOL.

I finally found out he played a Spector bass and I had to get one of those basses.

My meedles player used to use BOTH of his 1960 Lead cabs live and it was just so stupid.
Most people nowadays EVEN in a stadium setting use 2-3 cabs live and the rest are just dummies. A standard 412 with a 50 or 100W is plenty for any club setting. I've had to deal with this over time as we all do but if they insist on a "dual" setup, then get 2 2x12's or something. Two full 412 cabs is just unnecessary and only causes problems.

The wide string spacing is only available on the USA bolt-ons and if I am not mistaken, that is just the 5 string.

Yep! Thats is definitely doable... On the bolt on NS's. Technically, the wide 19mm spacing is only available on bolt on's; not the neck through basses.

But, anything can be done if you have enough cash

...and I know someone is going to ask why, so I'll explain to the best of my knowledge.

The "Wide 5" has a wider neck and bridge (obviously), but also has a very slightly larger body to accommodate these changes. Its tough to notice. I have to imagine they have not yet offered this option on other string/neck combinations because it would require huge tooling changes. And, the amount of people who want a wide 4 string compared to a wide 5 string is minuscule.

Well the reason I ask about the NT version is bc I wanted possibly a similar setup to the wenge basses they had over at Bass Central, just in an NS-5 format.
I think that would outweigh not having the wide spacing (if the wood setup was even still available to be built) but having both would be kinda rad.
