Friggin this.
My meedles player used to use BOTH of his 1960 Lead cabs live and it was just so stupid.
Most people nowadays EVEN in a stadium setting use 2-3 cabs live and the rest are just dummies. A standard 412 with a 50 or 100W is plenty for any club setting. I've had to deal with this over time as we all do but if they insist on a "dual" setup, then get 2 2x12's or something. Two full 412 cabs is just unnecessary and only causes problems.

Dude, back in like '94 my band opened up for Yngwie Malmsteen in Kansas City. Barry Sparks was his bass player at the time, great guy. He came in the night before and watched us play and him and I talked basses and got really drunk. Anyway, I'll never forget it, they split the stage in half, one half was Barry, the keyboard player, the drummer and the singer. The other half was for Yngwie's dummy stacks, like 8-10 of them, carried in full stack at a time with one Hand by his tech. Off stage firing like a side fill Yngwie's had an old Marshall 4-12 with a old 100 watt Marshall just cranked, and it was SO LOUD! I figure if a guitar god needs one 4-12, should be good enough for anyone else.

And yes... that stain finish under the right light does shift to a sort of purplish color.

Endorsed Spector Artist Christy Lichtenstein (Cowboy Mouth, Stattica), met with me at her hangar where she keeps her experimental Pitts stunt plane for her "My Spector Story" video shoot.

Her Q5-Pro was recently painted to match her plane and she had EMG DC pups and the EMG BQC circuit *@ 18v installed.

She has NS-5XL #19 and NS-5XL #78. She's been a Spector Artist 12 years and her #78 is a custom ordered flame maple (natural oil finish) lined fretless.

She gigs with her Q5-Pro and her Euro5LX. She rarely takes her "babies" out.

I took The Black Pearl because she's interested in an NS-5XL with maple fingerboard, and of course it ended up in some of the shots. LOL.

Yeah it;s a pretty rad bass! That plane is totally killer! It has a plexiglass bottom because she's rarely flying level and needs to see 360 degrees to get references of where she is.

And she jammed with her band in Malibu Saturday night and played Zeppelin songs all night long and she did a seriously intense job of respectable justice to John Paul Jones' work.

She's going to do a Tone video for the fretless NS-5XL.

What is your amp setup? get your cab up higher so it hits you in the chest

For a cheap mic that sounds decent, I recommend BEHRINGER XM8500 DYNAMIC VOCAL MICROPHONE+MIC CLIP AND STAND ADAPTER | eBay I use it for practice and Sennheiser for live. You woud want to get a small PA to run vocals, I picked up a small mixer, power amp and 3 mains/monitors for ~$500 but we are loud.

The Fender passport stuff is pretty good and cheap used. its a complete little PA system in different sizes...

Yeah , there's one pointy corner I had to trim, and one side had to be shaved down just a hair to fit. As well as the holes widened to 3/8 I believe.

Good to know you can shave it down without messing up the circuit, I get a bit concerned when I start removing material

Ok, so I'm going to put a Tonepump back in the NS4CRFM I just got. After doing some research and listening to clips on here. I just don't care for the Haz Lab copy that's in it. Anybody got a Tonepump for sale?

Love the tonepump, the only complaint I have is it doesn't have center detents. Be sure to get a blend pot and/or volume pot(s) as I think it comes with only the EQ pots, unless a fellow TBer is selling one with pots!

Yes they were routed into the body

18 Volt Modification

If anyone is interested in trying their Tonepump, BTS or Aguilar Pre running on 18 Volts.

There is a simple way to do with without making any of the modifications to your bass.

Just plug in and out of your bass.

See photo below. PM me if you need further info on how to make this.

No problems the traces are huge.


As for the pump, adjust it to where it sounds good and reposition the knobs so they point to something as a reference.

The NS-1 and NS-2 basses made between 1977 and 1980 were only partially routed.

The front of the Leo Quan Bridge (the side where the strings leave the bridge over the body towards the neck) was very shallowly routed so the bridge could sit flat. In the first year or so of the NS-1 this was done by hand with hand-tools, not power tools!

Later Stuart set up a modified template rig to allow the use of a hand-router.

By 1980-81, Stuart had changed the upper profile of the NS to be a little more flat and curving out towards the wings whereas the original models the body was almost like a hill with a single point near the pickups being highest and the body curving downward on all sides towards each outer edge.

When he did this, the entire bridge got a VERY shallow route.

Notable that in 1983 when he built the first NS-2JA models, those had the Bad Ass sitting on top of the body completely.

And a few months ago when Stuart made an NS-2 to 1979 specs as a special order for one of Todd Cooke's customers, the bridge was back to the same 1977-1980 partial route standard.
