He came in the night before and watched us play and him and I talked basses and got really drunk. Anyway, I'll never forget it, they split the stage in half, one half was Barry, the keyboard player, the drummer and the singer. The other half was for Yngwie's dummy stacks, like 8-10 of them, carried in full stack at a time with one Hand by his tech. Off stage firing like a side fill Yngwie's had an old Marshall 4-12 with a old 100 watt Marshall just cranked, and it was SO LOUD! I figure if a guitar god needs one 4-12, should be good enough for anyone else.

That's pretty much how we explain it to him... lol
He's a taller guy, at least as tall if not an inch taller than me so about 6'5, so I get he wants to "hear" better but I tell him that's what angled cabs 'r fer, n00b haha

Even guys like Lamb of God usually run only 2 live cabs and the other 5 or 7 are dummies for both Willie and Mark, respectively.

Hey guys-

I just got my first Spector yesterday in the mail. I got it used but it looks almost mint except for two TINY little dings if you can even call them that. Its a Rebop5 in the black cherry finish. I'm loving it so far but one thing that I didn't even think about before I bought it was if it would come with a case or not and it didn't. I don't know that I can fully understand why someone would have such an expensive instrument without a case but that's beside the point. My question is will it fit snug in cases besides the Spector made one. Obviously I could get a custom made one from Barry Cases or whatever (great company!) but I'd like to not have to spend that kind of money on a case. A gigbag won't work for me. It makes me nervous because I have to move it around too much. Is there any other option though?

The RoadRunner soft/hard cases should fit, actually. I really dig the soft/hard concept. I always personally handle my axes and they don't go in a trailer w/ stuff stacked on them and stuff, so it provides the protection of a HSC (mostly) w/out weighing a metric ton!
They're affordable too. :cool:
I use the HSC that came w/ my NS-5 but my Euro 4 I just sold had one of these, and it worked just fine.

Congrats on the bass. If I don't stick w/ my BTB, THAT is the ax I'm getting next. The cherry finish is outstanding.

After playing around a little with the Spector Legend 5 I picked up used I must say this bass sounds awesome. After shipping cross country I let it settle in for a few days. I cleaned it up really good, gonna put some new strings on it, then off the Mike Lull for a check-up and set-up. After all is said and done I should have less than $500 invested in the bass with upgraded preamp and pick-ups. Can't wait to pick it up after the set up and play at volume for a while. Thanks again to all you Spector guys for advice during and after the purchase.

Couple electronics questions for my NS20005:

1. Can the barrel jacks be fixed? Mine's crackly, I have to have the cable in a 'sweet spot' to get it to function properly. I'd rather not have to replace it if it can be saved, but the prongs that contact the cable plug don't seem to be accessible like a standard jack.

2. How do you guys tie down the extra battery when you mod a bass to 18v? The bass sounds decent at 18 so I'm not gonna restore it to 9v, but there is only one battery clip and the other battery knocks around...duct tape?

I don't think so...it's easier to replace. Just make sure its not the cable. I've had 1/4 plugs get slightly bent and become crackly.

This happened to me just last week.
My new cables should be here today.
Thankfully the input jack didn't need to be replaced, but may still get it done when Brownie goes under the knife! :eek:

I can't believe it is actually the cable!
I only got it a couple months ago, and my other IDENTICAL monster cable that I gig with has been fine for 4 years.

Oh well I'm right by GC tonight so I'll stop in and see about getting it replaced, as I'm sure they have a warranty.
