The new planet waves cables are quite nice, I have the speaker cable and love it. The original monster I got was before Planet Waves came out with the new line of good cables, the new one I got was because it was reasonably priced. I am surprised the new monster cable has crapped out because I have been gigging the old one for 4 years without a single problem.
I use the regular molded black cable, not the stupid expensive "bass" cable that is a clear ripoff, or the gold connector ones with no proper strain relief.

I use my XDS-Plus wireless live, and then bought one of the new American Stage 30' to run back to my rack (which I share w/ my 2nd guitard on the other side of the stage) then bought one of the 20' Classic ones for backup/to use at the rehearsal space.
I had an old-school Monster 21' from the early 00's but then they started making them w/ that stupid way hard rubber so I was like meh and sold my 2 or 3 on here.
Ok it was rather nice out today (spring in february? I'll take it!) so I got pictures of the NS20005 post-cleanup.
As with my NS20004 (just my luck!) this one ALSO only has 2 screws for the cavity cover. If anyone knows where to get replacements please let me know!
Previous owner also used a round file on the bridge saddles, I guess they were used to fender saddles....blech. Also it seems the saddles were corroding and were painted over with rustoleum, could be wrong but thats what it looks like to me...other than a total mess. But it plays great and that's waht counts.
I was relieved to find that what I thought might be rust, turned out to be the base metal showing through.
Also, not being much of a photographer, I can't believe I managed to get such a cool macro picture of this thing.
Not as cool but I liked it so here it is
Lastly, anyone know what these markings under the pickups mean? Also obvious previous owner guy didn't like the EMG markings so scratched them partly off...

You can order replacements from Spector.
I ordered replacements for my NS-2A.
I know its hard to tell but they appear to be the same size as the ones in your NS-20004 and 20005.
I have one extra left, if you want PM me your address and I will send it to you so then you will know if the ones from Spector will fit ok.
Believe it or not, the Rebop does not include a case or bag.
I would suggest a hybrid, like an Access Stage V, Mono bass case, Reunion Blues, or Incase. The are pricy, but they offer almost as much protection as a hard case, without the bulk.
Check the cable in another bass first. I'd be willing to bet it's the jack. Barrel jacks are generally poor quality and should be replaced frequently. Just about every tech in Nashville hates them.

It seems odd, but I'm tempted to believe it.
Last I checked, the abalone inlays and maple fretboard were do-able from the Czech factory, but I never knew that they would do solid alder wings.
I wonder how it sounds.
That was the most painless GC trip ever, I was in there for less than 5 mins, walked in told the guy what was up with my cable, they found a new one punched some stuff into the register and off I walked.
Definitely was the cable, the crappy old live wire cable I had worked fine in the bass, and the new monster works perfectly. Say what you will about them but these cables are affordable and guaranteed for life, this was the only time I had one go bad and it was at home.

No... it's legit. It was a special order Euro with maple fingerboard from several years ago.
It's not an NS-5... it's a Euro5. It's something a little different than the typical Euro5 and probably sounds pretty good. Solid Alder isn't bad sounding but I'd prefer solid maple.
It's not really collectable in my opinion (just my opinion people)... it'd make a nice player's bass. If it has DC pups and the TonePump it'll sound good with the little punch you get from the neck.
There's around 10 of these, not just like it, but around 10 or so Europe Series basses from 8-10 years ago running around with maple FBs and abalone inlays.
Also, from time to time prototypes show up on the market.
This is NOT a prototype... it's a special order. But from time-to-time Stuart and PJ will order a new design... either a different pickup config or sometimes a slightly different body shape and those sometimes get looked at and decided against and then they either sit in the shop and collect dust or they find their way to a collector like Todd Cooke.
The photo below is of a prototype neck that was sent from the Czech shop to PJ and Stuart for NAMM.
It has a black polymer plastic for the crown inlays (like the red polymer used with the Alex Webster Signature) instead of Abalone.
The neck is also a matte-finish neck instead of gloss.
It's just a variant of what's already being done tested on a ReBop body because being a bolt-on it's easier to build and test than that of a neck-thru.
Now... I say this to cover my backside. THIS IS NOT A PRODUCTION MODEL. So please, don't go asking for a neck like this because IT'S NOT AVAILABLE YET and MAY NEVER BE.

I agree. I bought my first....and last....Monster about 6 years ago. If it starts to cause problems....I just return it....no questions asked.

The difference in teh B-string is not as noticeable as I expected from all the discussion of 34 vs 35, it is noticeably less flabby, but tonewise it is a somewhat subtle difference, it is clearer but still muddier than I would like, but it may be impossible to get better in a B played fingerstyle. Sounds really great when played with a pick though.

Is it possible that the HZ Pups have something to do with that?
Well I don't mean that the B string sounds muddy, just usually in my experience the B is a bit muddier sounding than higher strings, and the scale length helps, but not as much as I expected. The EMG pickups help the overall tone to be more..."articulated" than I am used to honestly. The B doesnt quite have the same mid bump I'm used to getting from my NS20004.
I'm playing a half-step down from standard however so that might be hurting it as well.
