I've bought really nice cases for my NS-95 from Musicians Friend. Same manuf. that makes the Spector case but only $59-68.00. It was not a preformed but didn't slide around either. I bought the tweed with crush red liner, $68.00. Highly recommend!

I have a soft/hard roadrunner case , I made a form out of 2" thick foam for the ns body shape . Works great .
I bought a PlanetWave 90 with circuit breaker cable recent and absolutely love it!
To show how much stress a straight 1/4" cable puts on a jack...I plugged my PlanetWave cable into my legend 4 that I've owned for 3 years and the new cable wasn't connecting well. Looks maybe the jack needs replaced? I don't get any crackling though.

I know most of the people in here swear by Ampeg but after hearing the bass tone that John Montagna had on his My Spector Story, I have been really looking at Hartke equipment.
Looking through the used section of Guitar Center, one of the stores not too far from me got this amp and cabinet in and had them for an amazing price. I drove up and looked at them today and instantly fell in love with the sound and the clarity of this combo. They were basically brand new and still have all the stickers on them that come from when you buy them and the price just could not be beat. I have to say, it's a bit too powerful for my house but hey, there is no such thing right?
Nice Rig! I had a Hartke LH500 with the Hydrive 4x10. I sold the head but kept the cab! I power it with a GK MB500 Fusion and it sounds like a million bucks! ....and that green gets more stunning every time I see it!

While the all aluminum Hartke cones were a but brittle, I actually like the tone of the HyDrives.
I have had the pleasure to talk with Vic a few times, taken a handful of lessons with his Brother Regi and spent a few min with Joseph, Rudy (RIP) and Futureman at the weekly Wooten Bros gig in Nashville. They are all very genuine and to me come across as artists who would not sacrifice they're music/tone for a few extra bucks.
Regi usually plays an old Fender Squire guitar on stage. When I asked him why, he said to prove that you don't need to have expensive/fancy gear to be a top notch player!

Is there anywhere that lists scale lengths of different Spector 5ers over the years? It was quite a surprise for me that my NS20005 was 35"
The difference in teh B-string is not as noticeable as I expected from all the discussion of 34 vs 35, it is noticeably less flabby, but tonewise it is a somewhat subtle difference, it is clearer but still muddier than I would like, but it may be impossible to get better in a B played fingerstyle. Sounds really great when played with a pick though.
I'm pretty sure the "Model History" pages on the Spector site list the scale lengths for all ex-basses, at least for a good long while.
I know mine is a 34" and I haven't had any issues even tuning down to A but I have my string situation all figured out so.
However I know some of that is the DC's and they way their "sound" is. They really capture that uber low-end tone well.

I'm on the fence with this one. Our last show in January, the last band on the bill while we were loading out was an obvious "garage" band that did like, emo-core or something, just some high school or little older kids, and their bass player had some entry entry level Ibanez and like a Behringer 110 combo. Had some ZOOM all-in-one pedal and the sound coming from the PA was really awful lol. I almost felt bad for the guy bc the soundguy kept going "really is that how your bass sounds??" haha. We play this venue a lot so he's used to my Spector/Mesa rig as well as some other nice stuff but yeah, it was so bad by the middle of the first song he had just been completely shut off in the mix.
So while at times I think more "budget" gear can be passable, it's always up to the player IMO how much "better" your sound can be vs what the cost is.
For me, and all the stuff I've gone through, if I at least had a Spector NS5CRFM or Euro 5 I could pretty much just DI and be happy if there were no amps/backline, etc.. Maybe even a ReBop but I'd prefer one of the NT models.

I just think your green Spector matches that amp so well! It's got the beefy Hartke logo and the colored speakers, with your beefy looking bass! It's so cool together!

IME that's where bass/guitars really differ. Guitar toane for the most part is built around the amp, so you can have a $500 Strat or Epiphone w/ upgraded pickups, bridge, tuners, etc. that will absolutely RULE through a JCM or Dual Rec, Cameron, Splawn, Cobra, etc. whereas at least from what I see playing out, the actual "bass" is more of a factor than a bass amp.
Again I know others disagree and there's eleventy-billion TB threads on this, but is just how I see it.
I would agree with this statement. I find the choice of wood/bridge/pups/pre on a bass to be a more important factor in tone vs those same options on a guitar.
I think the amp on both sides of the argument are about the same. low quality amp/cab=crappy sound (exceptions to every rule), high quality amp/cab=pleasant sounds.

My current Shuttle 9.0-->WJ 2x10-->Peavey Tour 115 sounds way better than my old Peavey Tour 700-->Hartke XL410, back when I had the same bass. Still, I think there will always be exceptions .....
I believe the Gotoh tuners in my Forte to need a 9/11th hole...can anyone confirm/deny this?? I'm at work looking at d-tuners and don't have my bass with me.

I like vic and his playing but it seems like the only thing he stays true to is the Fodera basses he plays. He has played different amp/cab manufacturers and it hasn't changed his sound at all. He is the kind of player that just makes good amps sound good. Also Since he was already on board with Zoom I'm sure joining with Hartke was easy since its the same company. I think this really speaks to rockstar's argument about the bass being more important than the amp

I completely agree.... while a better built guitar will sound better, an amp (especially tube) hides a lot of lack luster.
Case in point:
my ibanez iceman ic300 sounded great through my 1976 Traynor guitarmate iii but my 1973 Gibson Les Paul Standard sounded like crap through my Peavey studio pro 112
all of my Spectors have sounded good through various rigs (some better than others) including practice amps and straight PA.

I just got my first guitar in ages (PRS SE Custom 22) and it's just great, but I really need something good to run it through. I have some old Martin 1x8 combo someone gave to me when I was like, 14 lol. Doesn't really "inspire" playing...

...and the Hydrive cabs sound great! I prefer the 4x10 to the 1x15 because its a bit tighter sounding. I highly recommend them!
