As far as the "budget" thing goes-
Eric from Shinedown uses the Dean Hillsboro basses (easily affordable) and the Hartke Hydrive stuff. When I saw them live (and on their Somewhere in the Stratosphere CD/DVD) he has a terrific sound that totally fits for them.

I'm sure some of his Dean stuff has been modded a tad (since he used to play Sterlings through Boogie gear) but I'd have no complaints rocking that setup if I were into 4's.

Very nice! I'd like to add a PRS Hollowbody II to my heard one of these days.... depending on what you want in an amp, I prefer Fender tube amps.... I use them clean only and put my noise boxes in front of the amp, If you want just a cool combo to jam on that has the best of both worlds check out the VOX VR series, my buddy has the ac30vr and its is sweet and affordable. and for a out rock, go the marshall JCM route.... they have some smaller amps in their lineup now, which is cool.... there are of course better amps then the three I listed but thats a good start :bassist:

If I could justify buying one, I'd sooooo get one of the new Mini Rectos lol. I played one through two of the Mini 112's the other week at Guitar Center. You want to put a bow on the thing it's so dang cute haha!

I probably will end up with one of the Blackstar or Jet City, etc. 5/20W combos or something. If I were ANY good at all I'd have either a Mark IV or V or Dual Rec + 212 by now for sure. I always play my singer's DR+412 stack if I get there before he does at rehearsal! ;)

Rectos are awesome! My guitarist has one. My other guitarist had a Rivera knucklehead and now a VHT sig x. I love getting to play through them. They also have a peavey Windsor that's super cool!! I'm spoiled with my axe fx :)

Indeed. I have an ultra (wish I had the II). I use it on every recording I do. They aren't too badly priced used since the II came out. It's probably my favorite piece of gear I own...next to my Spectors :)

I had a 400+ for a little while. That's about as "old" as I like to go! :D

Reason I went w/ the M9 is the Voicing control. On all previous basses that had the 250/500/1k Mid selector, I heavily used it but since my Spectors don't (which with this amp it's not necessary) I use that.
Plus the footswitchable EQ off/on which can defeat the Voicing feature is pretty sweet that I use a lot, considering we can go from really uptempo chuggas to pretty laid bar glass raisers by the end of the night lol.

Hey guys, my buddy at a small local repair shop just sent me these pics. It is a Spector (I'm pretty positive Euro) that has obviously been refinished. There are some issues going on with the electronics. Can anyone tell from the wiring what preamp is in this one?

Thanks guys! It is a custom paint job. The guy plays in a popular local band that does a very elaborate 80's show here (the Molly Ringwalds). I told them that if the pre is fried they should upgrade to the newer tonepump with the trim pot.

Can you post a pic of the bass?? That tiger stripe finish has to be awesome lol
