Yeah I'm looking at ditching my power amp for a light weight class D in the pretty near future. I can shave 20+ lbs, and it's really only for practice. Live I go from one of my preamp main outs to a DI to the FOH. Hell though about ditching the 810 recently, but Naahhh, it way too cool. lol

Ya I run two preamps and a pedal tuner at the moment... I use one preamp (MXR M80) all the time, don't really use the distortion and the other (Behringer BDI21) for some super low slides, but very rarely...

I might jump on a X2 unit... about half of the G30... and I know many touring artists who use the Line6 G50/G30 but they are mostly guitards...

Pay very close attention to polarity (+ & -) as the color code is reversed on the battery harness to preamp harness connection.

Wow, I just noticed that. Is that a mistake? If you follow that diagram there's no way to wire it parallel by accident is there?

Wow, I just noticed that. Is that a mistake? If you follow that diagram there's no way to wire it parallel by accident is there?

No. It's not a mistake and if you follow the diagram it will be in series.
But you can reverse the polarity of the circuit and damage the preamp if you are not careful. See how the original connector and the harness connector colors are red to black and black to red... if you wire red to red and black to black with THIS harness it will be reversed and fry your preamp or at least the "voltage polarity protection diode" if it has one

To wire parallel..
You only use one extra 9v connector and you wire color to color...red to red and black to black using the first pic of the single battery.

According to Phat the non trim tone pump wont take 18V (you might fry it) . The trim pot version likes it though.

The "extremely early voltage doubled versions" wont like it. These were very short lived and unless you have one from a 2001 bass you shouldn't have any problems.
Any TP after these, trimmed or not, will work.

Physically, the diagram is correct.
The upwards facing clip is incorrectly labeled backwards, but is physically correct.
It's a small labeling mistake. The actual physical orientation of the wires and clips is correct though.

Also, there is nothing parallel about this harness. Flip the wiring (as its incorrectly labelled) of the upwards facing clip and you will simply reverse the polarity of the 18 volts (and possibly do some damage).

Even if you did wire up a parallel harness, you will not get the improvement in headroom because a parallel scheme still only gives you 9 volts from the two batteries. Your pre will still only function at the 9 volt level.
Yes, Trace is correct that your batteries will last longer, only because your current drain is now being fed by two batteries. It'll be like changing your single 9 half as often, but there will be no preamp perfomance upgrade as in the series 18 volt application.

Just remember you need solder on the iron, the solder is what transfers the heat to what ever your soldering. A lot of people don't do that.

Radio shack has a decent cheap setup for about $15 with a holder solder and iron. It works fine for home use and has enough wattage for soldering onto pots and general guitar stuff.

My Guitarist and I were Beta testers for the G30.
We both loved them.

The AA thing is really what sells me.
We're taking time off to get the record done, but I think as soon as it's finished and we're ready to get back on stage to promote it, it's going to be a nigh immediate purchase.
I like mine and all but the "4-8 hours" thing is quite a stretch. I can usually get maybe 2.5-3 hrs from one 9V in my XDS-Plus.
