I run mine at 18V as well.
Thank Phat for the 18v kick. I run my guitars with emg's at 18v but didnt until now in my basses. needless to say they will all be 18v from now on if its possible!
According to Phat the non trim tone pump wont take 18V (you might fry it) . The trim pot version likes it though.

I'm thinking about getting a wireless unit for live shows. Generally I'm not a fan but I figure it would allow me to get crazy on stage... what are you guys using? I'm also thinking of working on a rack setup (compressor, tuner, head) so would it be worth it to go the rack wireless route? Also what are some things to look for when looking for a wireless for bass.... its a lot easier for guitarists.. lol

ya I think we actually have talked about that before... lol The new line6 G30 is pretty cheap and seems pretty good
I just have to sell my old cab before I go buying more stuff....

How to Do It: Basic Soldering - YouTube I don't recommend flicking hot solder anywhere, wipe it off on a wet sponge or wet paper towel.

Just remember you need solder on the iron, the solder is what transfers the heat to what ever your soldering. A lot of people don't do that.
Radio shack has a decent cheap setup for about $15 with a holder solder and iron. It works fine for home use and has enough wattage for soldering onto pots and general guitar stuff.

The G30 is better then the x2 I got and sturdier... I can't justify spending 500$ on other brand wireless units.
I've played some big stages and even using the basic x2 model I'd never be out of range.. If I did, I'd be out of range of the stage monitors which would be pointless anyway
I spent a bunch of money on a Line6. Cant find the receipt. It went out in less than two months. Not sure if it is the sending unit or reciever. Was fine when it worked though.

The same as on bass. More headroom. Kind of like a clearer, tighter distortion. On guitar even with tons of gain you can hear the individual strings of chords etc. highly recomended. It dosen't come out well in video's, In person you'll definitely hear it. They sound more muddy in comparison at 9v.
