Look what arrived today! These are the new Walnut LTD's with the original Badass bridge, Hazlab 9 volt circuit, chrome hardware. There are only going to be 8. This is #1, #2 and #3.

It's another Rebop 5 but has a gloss finish, but it's a little bit more money. How are the EMG HZ's compared to the EMG DC's or TW's that are in the new Euro 5LX's? If I'm gonna wanna do all of these upgrades in the future, then I might as well just get the Euro that comes with them already, you know?

I didn't think I would like the natural finish either but the cool thing about it is any marks or nicks are very difficult to spot. GC told me that there were a bunch of marks all over it but I had to really look close just to find anything so they really have a way of hiding any gashes.

One thing you will notice right away if you buy it is the weight difference. My Euro 5LX weighs in at around 11 pounds but when you pick up the Rebop for the first time, it's light as a feather at around 8 pounds. I find myself going to that bass just because of the lighter weight if I am going to mess around while watching tv or something. It's just easier to carry around and you would never think that 3 pounds would make such a difference.

The EMG HZ pickup are much better than I thought but I am actually going to take them out after playing around with them for a few months. Mine still has the original non-trim tonepump so what I am going to do is rip the trim tonepump and TW pickups out of my Euro 5LX and put them in the Rebop. I never use the single coil function of the TW pickups since I am not a fan of the sound so I am just going to transfer them over to the Rebop since i am more of a fan of the active EMG pickups.

I really like the EMG DC's since I have them in my NS-5XL so I am going to buy a new set of those and also an EMG BQC system and have that all installed in my Euro 5LX. I really liked the separate mid control and mid sweep function when a demo was posted of the Alex Webster Euro so I am going to install that.

Seeing that cool holoflash on other Rex's made me think I could do something to make mine a little more attention-getting. I had also heard good things about DR Black Beauties on the Rex5 so I decided to order some Green Neons...

They feel great, sound great and look awesome (they are much brighter in person than what my crappy cell phone camera can capture). I probably won't be bringing this bass to church anytime soon (thats what the other Spector is for:)), but these are some seriously cool strings.:bassist:

I really feel like a Spector neophyte. I recently picked up two stock NS-2A basses with the Korean 9V HAZ copy preamp and the Spector passive pickups. My first inclination was to replace the electronics in one of them with a set of EMG active P/J pickups and a BQC preamp that I got a great deal on.

Then I thought about it. I like what I'm hearing from the stock electronics so why change anything. If the Korean 9V HAZ copy preamp is part of the Spector mojo... I'd rather leave these 2 basses un-molested.

My two NS-2A basses are similar and yet different. One of them weighs just under 9 1/2 pounds and the other weighs just under 8 1/2 pounds. One has really dead strings and the other has a more lively set. They both sound very good. I'm going to put on some new strings and play with the setups to see which one I favor.

I also found a nice ReBop 4DLX with a Tone Pump and the EMG Hz pickups and I'm going to see how it plays, feels, and sounds, compared to the NS-2A basses.

Next, I'd like to sell a couple basses from my herd and look for a nice used Euro 4LX or LX-TW.

I think my money would be better spent sampling the stock "flavors" of various models before I go changing things for no reason.

I stumbled into a rather interesting little music shop tonight and found a Spector for sale. I couldn't find a serial number anywhere on it. The owner was kind enough to pull off the back to see if it was hidden in the cavity but no number there. Can anyone tell me what I'm looking at here?

Are they nickel or SS strings?

I was thinking about getting a set of red ones for my cherryburst NS20005 but the strings that came on it are ok so I haven't done it yet.

I believe they're nickel with a round core, basically Sunbeams with the K3 coating. So far I really like them, and I've heard they last a long time.
