USA Spectors... the headstocks have a layer of Ebony instead of black laminate like the other series do.

Because Ebony is a wood and the color varies from piece to piece... some are more noticeable, others not so.

The Ebony wood grain is much harder to see with the high gloss finish models whereas it's much more apparent with the oil and matte finished basses.

The Black Pearl's headstock is so dark you have to hold it under bright light to see the pattern, whereas the headstock of my NS-4 is more visible.

Another little thing that makes the USA models special. It's the little details that add up with the USA Series.

Huh...I did not know that. Wow! Cool! Like you said...it's in the little details.

Love the matte finish on mine :)

Congrats! Yep...I thought the same thing. The new display was hard to say no to. Lol I bought the WiFi only model. Can't see paying for 4G LTE service prices. I mainly want to use mine for music purposes anyways.

I got the ipad2 with 3G and you pay monthly prepaid. I only buy data when I go out of town. It's a nice option to have!

wow!!! I love that back! Is that also Spalted maple? The grain is incredible!!!

Black walnut.

Which BTW, is what Stuart originally made the wings for the NS-1 from. The back half of the water cured redwood, buckeye burl and spalt maple models all are black walnut.

It is a beautiful warm, rich sounding wood.

Here's a photo of the back-side of my water cured redwood NS-4.

Stuart will built full wings out of this wood if you want.

I'm really wanting to buy another bass this weekend, and I think I've got it narrowed down to a few that I'm really interested in. The first one is the green NS5CRFM priced too high for me, but if I can talk them down and get it shipped to Canada I'd be sold. The green really is my favourite colour on a Spector next to the all white! The product number on used GC is 107491256

The next one is a used natural rebop 5. The ad says it's a DLX but I believe it would have to have the inlays to be a dlx, and it doesn't have the inlays. Not a deal breaker for me, but I really do love them. The price is right and the product number is 106982489 . But what exactly is this bass?

The last one is what appears to be a Rebop 5, looks really nice, and I really like the red. Again, the price is right, but I'm really not expecting to get the NS5CRFM this low. I know I'd be saving money going with one of the Rebops, but will I regret it and never play it compared to my Euro 5LX? 106982489

You have 106982489 listed twice so I am not sure what the last one is but I can definitely comment about the actual 106982489 :)

That is a Rebop 5 but definitely not a DLX model since it doesn't have the crown inlays. I have pretty much the exact bass right there that I bought used from GC and love it. I also have a Euro 5LX as well so I can compare the two. The Rebop 5 is a great bass and definitely worth the money. It does feel different than the Euro 5LX but that is to be expected since you are comparing a bolt-on with a neck-thru. I know Limaguy recorded some clips with my Rebop5 and Euro 5LX so let me see if I can find those.

They definitely have different sounds and feels to them but I think you would be very happy if you went with that natural Rebop. I bought mine site unseen and was really surprised how great it felt but one thing I would recommend is take out the old tone pump and replace it with a newer once that has a trim pot. Mine has the older tonepump so the output is pretty hot compared to my other Spector's so I am going to swap that out as soon as I can.

Cool, it's great to hear from someone who has actual experience with both. I'm sitting here typing with my Euro 5LX in my lap :bassist: I just can't put this thing down. I was never really a natural type of finish kind of guy, but I really like the look on that rebop. The other bass I was referring to was actually this number 107498649

It's another Rebop 5 but has a gloss finish, but it's a little bit more money. How are the EMG HZ's compared to the EMG DC's or TW's that are in the new Euro 5LX's? If I'm gonna wanna do all of these upgrades in the future, then I might as well just get the Euro that comes with them already, you know?

So here it the crappy cellphone pic...more to come when the other 2 get here..
