SPECTOR® Club - Part 30

Ok, I finally got these pictures to upload. Gentleman, meet my brand new Spector Rebop 5DLX.

So what do I need to do to join this club? :-)

Great thing about a Spector bass is when you set the intonation and set the side screws, unless you change string brands or type, I never need to re-set intonation ever again! With my USA made Forte 4&5 I haven't had to set the intonation at all yet. They came with perfectly intonation.
They have the intonation adjusting screws too. My Legend 4 I've had for 3 years and only set once!

As for your TB APP goes...you'll need to upload your pictures into a photo program like "Photo Bucket", that's what I use. It'll resize the pictures for you too so they'll fit the megaPixel size limit.
I quit using the APP as it has gotten too quirky. :scowl::mad:

Haha...well Jeff, you and I had the same Ian Hill...for me the neck felt thinner that the 87 NS-2A that I had. But I guess the only way to have known positively would to had measured them. And there is variances in each and every neck...I don't think there's two basses the same, eh? :)

I actually just used my blue steel 45-105 set. Just dropped it down to A and went for it. It was a bit on the floppy side, but it works.

The Axe Fx is awesome!!! Really good IMO!!!
I bet with an RBI you can get some great results. I tell you what...i just started a new job, so life will be really busy for awhile, but i'll try to just use my Sansamp and re-record the bass using only it to try to show a difference in the results. I'll try to post it later. :)

In the spirit of sharing techniques...And for those interested in playing 3 finger style, I made a video for someone here that shows how I practice my 3 finger picking technique.

(Later during the day when I watched the videos I notices how many inconsistencies there are...YIKES. But it gets the point across :D )

Video 1:
Counting 3/8 time. And using 3 counts for each fretting (left hand) finger:
3 finger technique. 3rds - YouTube

Video 2:
Counting 4/8 time and 4 counts per each fretting finger. This is where it gets tricky because you count 4 using 3 fingers. So you count the ONE with a different finger each time :P

Video 3:
Something to practice EVERYWHERE and on ANYTHING! :D
Same count (3's), just double the speed each time:
Finger exercise - YouTube

Starting very very slow. Maybe 50bpm. Then work your way up.
If this doesn't make sense...I can try and make better ones at my jam space and actually have the bass plugged in.
If anything, at least the bass looks good in this light :D :D

Another reason why I have my action low is because the sound of the strings hitting the neck (that loud tap sound)) keeps me in a sense of time (and somewhat of a percussive state) and helps me with hitting the strings at a right consistency...as much as it's possible.

So this is what works for me. I am sure there are other ways to go abouts doing this and that others have their own $0.2. It would be cool to see everyone's own style!

Thanks for making those videos dude. Those are a huge help and really show how to work on the 3 finger technique.

So i just got off work and came home to track these really quick. One track is with just the DI of my Euro 4LX and the other is the sansamp and the di tracks. I'll have to get my M-80 home sometime and try it with that as well. Hope this helps from a Sansamp perspective. :bassist:

I know the Kramer/Spector NS-2's are considered Spectors but what about the Forums?
They had Spector designed necks, Spector bridges and circuitry. Some even had Spector pups.

Are they considered Spectors as well?

the kramer/spectors ARE Spectors. Kramer owned Spector at the time. The forums are Kramers with some things borrowed from the Spector line.
