SPECTOR® Club - Part 32

I think you guys may have inadvertently kept me in the club. I had a major gas attack the other day, Jaymi as my witness, my Euro went up in the classifieds. Okay I admit it for a slightly high price. Well Jeffplaysbass was mildly interested but someone (Jaymi? :)) told him to offer me a lower price. But I had told Jaymi earlier that if it didn't sell for my slightly inflated price I would just keep it. Soooo I still gots it. I guess I'm just torn. It really is a wonderful instrument. Looks beautiful, sounds great but I don't think I was ever really drawn to Spectors before. I was a huge Eddie Jackson fan during the late eighties and early 90's. Sting of course. I really liked the tones Colin Edwin of Porcupine Tree was getting with his Euro's. Time will tell I guess...

I believe that is hanging in Todd Cooke's store Guitar House of Tulsa. Todd is a good guy to deal with, I am currently working with him on a HS5H2...not to mention he has a RIDICULOUS Spector collection! You can check it out at http://www.spectorworld.com/

Shoot him a message or give him a call. He will definitely treat you right! :bassist:

Yea that is where I saw it. It is on FEEBAY right now.
I think the price is keeping it there and not letting it sell.
But if The store will work the price, I might be interested? Time will tell :D

What preamp is in there now?

EMG BTC system with a bass expander circuit. Sounded very quiet last night, put new batteries today (it's wired for 18 volts) and its a different bass. I think the batteries were maybe dead, sounds much more powerful today, but I think maybe Haz is the way to go...

Todd is a Spector brother.... he will hook you up. I'd love see one of our own end up with that coral beauty.

So update on my voyage for a rex4 with p/js... I have sold all but one pedal that I can live without which has got me halfway to the bass purchase..... I'm seriously thinking of selling one of my Gibson Les Pauls (one my wife bought and will stay in my possession forever) if it sells that will fund the rest of the bass and upgrades.... just have to really think about it... SAS is powerful and depending on how the Rex build goes.... my Euro may go up for sale (although I'm trying to keep more than 2 Spectors in my possession at a time lol)

???????

Holy crap, NS-2A is like brand new! White, very clean, very cool looking, it doesn't sound as I would like, sounds good, but I think it needs the Haz... Temping.

Only downside so far is that I wanted to play it, it was packed in packing peanuts, which would have been fine but I turned my back to get the bass out of the gig bag and check it out and the kids got the box...2 hours later I finally got them all cleaned up. More of a review to come, here's a pic and a pic of the mess:(

sweet chris. congrats buddy! :hyper:

Sorry not enough caffeine yet today. In my rant I meant to say I am still happy to be a Spector owner, yet still wondering what is out there in bassdom does that make more sense?
Brent

I bought my first Spector in '02. Was a '00 NS4CRFM in natural quilt top. Since then I've had pretty much everything, including a very long and enjoyable run with Modulus.
But, the Spector bug hit me in 2009 again when I acquired my ex '85 NS-2, which I since sold to get a different Spector icon (;)), and I'm happy to be home.
So nothing wrong with venturing out, but you'll come back! We all do! :D

Hey all. I have been lurking in the Spector Threads. I have played many basses over the years and find myself always coming back to one brand......that OTHER company that makes a VERY SIMILAR Spector NS body style.........now before the negative....(LOL). One of my best friends wants me to get into Spector.......

Should be easy right since I already play ROUGHLY the same bodied basses?

Here is the real question. Right now I do not have enough cash to buy an American Spector. What would you suggest I buy to be TEMPTED AND LURED over to Spector? I want to try and make the transition.........so I don't think a Legend model will cut it........Rebop 5 or Euro 5 to get the best effect and WHY.........please.........CONVERT ME...........please

What Wick are you playing now? I've had some Wicks over the years but the only ones that were really standout-ish were the SSII 5 and a late 90's Dolphin 5 (the nice, neck-thru model).

As much as I <3 my Spector brand, the SSII 5 is a serious all time instrument in my book. They really got it right with that one.

However the best non-US is gonna be a Euro 5 neck-thru. A lot of folks here have USA NS-5's (like me :hyper: ) and the Euro's are pretty dang close except for a few differences.

I heard that brah lol.
I've pretty much promised myself I can't buy another 4... Your Forte 5 is just sick. I really really like the look of those. Maybe will keep an eye out for one secondhand... :hiding:

I'm not being talked out of this one. Haha! :ninja: Yeah they're great beasts for the lower $$ ya pay compared to a NS-5 $$$. After all it's a NS-5 without the BLING! Haha All tone monster!!!:bassist:
