Check BassCentral and PowerMusic; the "bloody" one runs around $2700 and the black lacquer finish (no blood) is about $2400.
That blood is pretty expensive!

I took a risk, buying the bass without playing it, but I will say that this is the best-sounding bass I've ever played. I am a big fan of the EMG BQC preamp!

My NS5CRFM had the "old" 18V EMG preamp in it, and I really liked it, so I can just imagine what the AW Sig sounds like. Don't believe mine had sweepable mids, tho.

Also I think after seeing yours and that it doesn't nearly look as "cartoonish" as the glossy/hi-res pics can make it look, that will be my next one. We are talking almost Forte 5 money, but, it's tough to beat that blood+black scheme!

That was my biggest fear - I wanted metal without cheese. The AW is like the Holoflash; probably not the best for jazz gigs, but they have that "ready to rock" look!

I'm curious what you think of the Rebop. I know some people aren't the biggest fans but since you have had other Spector's, I am wondering if you like it. I love mine but I have been told it sounds so much different than the newer Rebops.

That is what makes the decision so tough with all of these models. In that price range, there are so many different ones to choose from that you will almost go nuts. I was going through that when it was time to buy and the green NS-5XL from NAMM popped up so that made my decision much easier. Of course, it was higher than all the other basses I was looking at but I couldn't pass up the color and I don't regret the decision one bit.

Yeah, it's tough to tell in the pictures sometimes but then after seeing pictures of Alex actually using the bass, it makes it all good :) Someone posted a video the other day of him playing it live and even though it was filmed with a cell phone, the bass came through really good and sounded amazing.

After seeing your pics, I want to rip out the Tonepump in my Euro 5LX and put a BQC in it again. Of course, that would also involve changing out the TW pickups with DC's since I really love the DC's much better but need to save a bit more money.

Ever since I got the NS-5XL, I have grown to love the DC's so much better and have discovered I am not the biggest fan of the TW pickups. Of course, now I want to throw DC's in my Rebop and my Euro 5LX though so that's not going to be cheap.

Your NS-5XL is just simply stunning. I definitely have that scheme saved for a later date, if I want to order something comparable!! :bassist:

And I'll do a full review on the ReBop 5, no problem. I've borrowed an original non-LX/DLX model years ago, but don't really remember all the nitty-gritty whereas now I can do an accurate A/B to the Spectors I've had in the last few years and accurately remember those little deets. I think it'll be here next Mon, as it was coming from the Great White North.
What model ReBop is yours? Mine is IIRC a 2010 5-DLX.
Edit: actually, it has to be a DLX-FM if it has a 2010 stamp on it, right?

It's never cheap, is it? I LOVE me some EMG actives; I installed my first set in 1993, and I have never played anything else since!
That BQC is wicked! Not thundering, like the Aggie OBPs - more like a sharp, driving sound.
It's gonna sound so good thru my Mesa M6!

I'd actually like to hear your review as well. I have a month old Rebop 5DLX. And I love it. However, I think I'm about to pull the trigger on a Euro.

Oh, I thought you had it already but if it's coming from Canada, that would explain it. Mine is a standard Rebop 5 from 2001 so it doesn't have the crown inlays and has the non trim pot tonepump which i need to switch out.

Yours has a 2010 stamp on it or does that just happen to be some numbers in the serial number on the back of the neck? I didn't think they stamped the year the basses were made but I could be wrong about that. If your's is not Zebrawood though, it would most likely be an FM like you mentioned since those are the 2 different models they offer I believe.

Yup, I totally agree about the EMG actives. I have the passive EMG HZ pickups in my Rebop and I want to switch them out with DC's as well. I think I need to just bite the bullet and get a BQC since the more you talk about it, I want it :)

I'd love to get a Euro bass with the Webster specs if only I could get a finish other than black without the splatter and regular inlays instead of red. I keep dreaming of a green Euro with an ebony fretboard. :)

Well I think the SN is "NB 10 018", so I'm assuming those first two are indicative of the year, meaning it should in fact be an FM. I definitely know it's not the 2nd-gen ReBop 5.
