Hey guys, just got my Spector Euro 6 LX back from the shop! Sexy isn't?

While I don't "hate" it, and I've always been a big advocate of making the cutaway deeper for better fret access.....
I think it could have been done without making it look so....."impotent". :hiding::p

I still say the NS lower cutaway could be deeper without ruining the overall lines of the body/lower horn as current.

Man that is an awfully tempting price. A whole lotta maple to make for some PUNCH city.

I love my X! It has a ton of punch & the Aguilar pre sounds great in it. I swapped out the DCs for the 35 PJ combo, and love it. I will be dropping them back in & trying them at 18v as well as the DC in the bridge. I have to say, I love the looks of the PJ setup, but EMG's doing it right with the solder-less connections & different models in the same casings. Versatility at its finest!!!

By the way Lee, the Ian Hill will be here on friday...Steve and I are connecting then so there will be pics, vids, all that stuff.... :)

I'm VERY excited to hear how this setup sounds. Could give me something to obsess on for a few weeks.

If it passes your muster I might have a Euro for it to go in.:hiding: If not the Euro haz to haz the Haz.

Hey dudes and dudettes,

So when I had my fall I apparently messed up the jack of my Spector pretty badly and now I need a new one. I'm just curious if any 1/4 jack from Musician's Friend will do or if I need something more specific for bass.

Thanks!
James

You'll need a stereo barrel jack. Again, as usual, I suggest Best Bass Gear.

Still struggling with SAS...
So I have a Spector REX5 neck thru holoflash that I dearly love the sound, look and feel of... BUT... the body style and tone won't do for just any old song, it excells at metal and heavy, grindy, gritty stuff - which I play a lot. I'm looking to balance out the Spector stable with a more laid back traditional look and tone for those more mellow tunes and times. I've found a few Rebops on line but none I can try out first - are they a fairly clear departure from the REX5? From a tone and control standpoint how would you compare them to the Rex?
I tried a couple of the legends and wasn't that fond of the controls or sound so I'm hoping the Rebops are different from the legends.
Of course I'd like to keep it under $1000. Any ideas?

I've got a EuroLX 4 in black cherry with a flame top that is new from Amazon. The only thing I did besides get a pro set up on it and put Sadoswky black label steels on it is put EMG PJX pickups in it and an EMG BTS circuit wired to 18volts (not the smadder setup, but I wanted to try something for everyone out there who is going for that 18v push). I'd like to get rid of it for $1100 plus $40 for shipping (but we can talk and I may be able to work with you on price). I'll be posting pics to the site later today. If you're interested, PM me. I can't officially sell it as new, but it is (I sold similar basses to ynot12 and WilsonMusic): I got paid in barter by this guy I did computer work for and he paid me with this Spector off of Amazon, and it simply has not been used or registered, just upgraded and set up. Comes with a new Spector gig bag too.

There are/were some Spector models that had/have a blend control, they came that way.
Mostly they're OBP-3 preamps and USA 18V.
My preference would be a neck thru 5 string so I guess that's the euro but I'd settle for a bolt on 4 rebop if the price was drastically different. I also agree with worshiprocker that the satin or oil finish looks fantastic. Bass Central seems to have fairly decent prices on their new and used Spectors. Any other leads on a nice clean used Rebop or Euro 4 or 5 feel free to ping me.
PM smadder, he has been selling new Euro-4/5's at really great prices to pay off medical bills. If he doesn't have what you are loOking for check out GC Spector used basses.

Hooray! :hyper: I can't wait to hear it with you playing Jaymi! :bassist:

Man! That's a gorgeous Kramer NS-2! Excellent price too! Good thing I'm broke and I'm not an amber person. Good luck! Should go fast!

For those not on Facebook, I wanted to post these here also.

A group shot of My 4 string Spector Basses & Guitar with John's 5 string Spectors.

Some photos with Patrick during his visit to the Lima Pad yesterday.

A Photo of my Euro4LX in the middle of the
NS-1 Prototype (circa 1977) and NS-1 Mock-up (circa 1977) that Ned Steinberger made made from a defective SB-1 to show his idea of the curved NS body.
Imagine a mistake turned into one of the most amazing bass designs in history. :bassist:

My Euro4LX was taken back from the Woodstock shop where it had 2 frets slightly filed down
and was taken back to PJ's where Patrick took this photo.
It was delivered back to me yesterday. :bassist:
Now being "almost famous" :hyper:

Mmm. That's a lot of beautiful Spector's! I love the NS-1's! :bassist:

Well Donny you were right. I installed the ProSteels on Big Earl and they do indeed '"cut like a mutha". Grindy as all get out.

If they give me half this grind when they settle I'm pretty sure I'll be happy. For the first time ever I actually had to back the treble knob out of the center detent of the Haz. Impressive so far. Thanks man.

Argh!

My tech still isn't done with the black cherry Euro LX 4 that I'm going to be selling. But, I did get the white JAR and the Forte 5 back. Happy stuff. So I'll have a family photo on Thursday.

Also coming on Thursday is another barter bass - this time an Alex Webster (non-drip graphic). I'm not going to touch it this time except to set it up and make sure that shipping and the insane heat down here in the south didn't mess with the setup too much. I think since it comes with the 40DCs and the EMG BQC, there's just not much that can be done to improve on it (outside of a Haz), so I'm not going to mess with it. I'm going to sell it for $1500 with a new Spector gig bag. Again, this is a new bass, straight from Amazon. While I can't sell it as a new bass (I'm not a reseller, obviously) it is new and no one will have touched it except me taking it out of the Amazon shipping box to set it up and then put it in a Spector gig bag. It will be unregistered and I'll provide proof of purchase to the person who takes it off of me. These sell new for $2399, so I feel like $1500 is a pretty great price. This is also currently the only way to get a fretted ebony board on a Euro bass, which is a cool option. Also the Webster has a slim (front to back) neck profile that's supposed to be incredibly fast and comfortable (NPS had raved about this is past posts). I will post pics and put everything (it and the LX4) up on the thread on Thursday early evening. If anyone wants to call dibs on either of these ahead of time, please PM me. Just FYI, the maple top on the LX4 is really cool - it's one of those that's somewhere in between a flame and a quilt, so it's got a great figure to it and a very unique look. And the 18v EMG BTS system combined with the X series pickups will provide tons of horsepower. I can't wait to hear how it sounds!

I just dropped the price on the MTD again today to $3500 shipped. Found out today I have to have an MRI on Friday morning, so keep your fingers crossed for me on all of there - I really need the money.
