NS-1 Prototype (circa 1977) and NS-1 Mock-up (circa 1977) that Ned Steinberger made made from a defective SB-1 to show his idea of the curved NS body.
Imagine a mistake turned into one of the most amazing bass designs in history. :bassist:

My Euro4LX was taken back from the Woodstock shop where it had 2 frets slightly filed down
and was taken back to PJ's where Patrick took this photo.
It was delivered back to me yesterday. :bassist:

i hear you. i'd love to have a slew of basses i dream of. :crying: but im saving for an amp next year and we're moving to another town to top it off. different jobs, etc. so i'll squeezing blood out of pennies for a while. :rollno:

Man - this thread moves way too fast. Yeah I'm interested in a potential cash buy, also when you get a chance take a look at my profile and see if there is anything of interest there for you. I'm going to have to sell about half of what I own over the next few months due to a studio downsize. Some of it's very good stuff and you may be able to flip it at significantly more than I would care to deal with since my travel schedule rarely gives me time to deal with tire kickers and fishers. PM me with any info on your bass and some pics. Thanks

I hear ya. I'm starting a new job Friday. Shutting down my company of over a decade. Taking a step back to hopefully take quite a few forward in the future. After I get me NS2A this week I'm done with any new (to me) gear for quite a while. But a mans gotta do what a mans gotta do.....

Especially when you have shipping OCD like me and I keep looking at the tracking info over 50 times a day. :hiding:

Glad you like them! I'm really digging them on my CRFM... perfect for me. I'm using the Dunlop Steels on my Rex and they are equally as awesome!

Love em! I have ProSteels on 8 out of 10 of my basses - they don't make them for my Hamer 12-string, and because of the brittle sounding pre, nickles sound better on the late model Stingray.
Glad you tried them, and you will love the way they sound in a live mix on a Spector with EMG DCs. :bassist:

I have the EMG BT preamp complete with all pots that just came out of the NOS JAR. I had my tech keep everything harnessed up and I even have the nicely-weighted, brass-lined EMG knobs for it. It's wired for 9v but I can include an extra clip so you can take it up to 18 if you like. The 4 knob set up is vol/bal/bass/treble with the center treble frequency being selectable via dip switches on the treble pot circuit board. It's a great preamp and again - is completely unused. These go for $89 - $100 new so I'm thinking $55 with free USPS Priority Mail shipping. As usual, I'll include a new battery for you so you can get started as soon as it's all hooked up. I wanted to put it here on the family thread before posting it on the TB classifieds, so PM me if you want dibs.

I thought I remember seeing posts suggesting the Spector brand strings are either made by D'Addario or similar to them - can anyone comment on that?

I originally planned to try a set of ProSteels on my BEAD tuned Euro 435 but I forgot to get the tapered B so I tried them on one of my SR5's and I stuck with the bottom 4 of the Spector steel set on the 435. I don't find them to be very similar, but I actually like the Spector strings more. Very zingy and grindy to my ears. I'll probably give the ProSteels a go on the 435 at some point but I'm trying to get back to the business of actually recording bass and not trying out 10 million different combinations of strings and basses. :) And that's not say I think that's a waste of time - I love the comparison clips that have been posted here. I'm just too lazy to do them myself.

Yea, that was me. There are only a few string manufacturers out there, and they make bass strings under dozens of different brand names, including those made for most (but not all) bass builders.
D'Addario makes strings for Rickenbacker, and I believe they make the Spector-branded strings as well. This is not to say that the strings made for Ric, Spector, etc. are the same as off the shelf D'Addarios - different gauges, wrap materials, cores (round, hex, etc.) and winding styles lend different "string personalities" to the various brands.
